Playing Devil’s Advocate here, but changing your name from Phoebe to Phoenix is also really pretentious. You shouldn’t be surprised if people don’t want to call you by your edgelord code name.

Well, I mean, he had it coming. Still, a bit rude of Phoenix. Granted, I can see where he is coming from; I don't know Phoneix's past. For all we know, she really likes it as a nickname, or she associates it with trauma, perhaps an abusive family.
At the same time, Phoneix should realize it IS difficult for change, and the best way to teach him to empathize with herself is to help Luke out, the confused as hell guy. Least, that's how I'd write it.
