Description
WMSP again. I have no idea whether this is a siberian or bengal tiger, his pen wasn't very well sign posted.Anyway, you may be able to tell I changed the contrast/brightness on this since he is very orange, but I wanted him to be.

in my opinion it looks more like a bengal tiger... I like the colours very much. About the wire - well, that's one thing a photographer can't omit while visiting a zoo, although in some zoos there are glass walls instead of wires and that's a lot better... I remember when I was on a trip to the WrocΕaw zoo and wanted to take photos of lions... I ended up with a lioness stalking me, with only the thin wire between us two. But the photo turned out crap anyway... I just wanted to say, coming back to the topic of this pic, that the idea of animals (especially wild cats) pacing to and fro along their pen's wire totally upsets me. During the visit I've mentioned I could see the poor tigers doing nothing except walking from one corner to another, quicker and quicker. It's just unbearable if you sit there and watch them for awhile, you begin to understand that something's wrong with this and next moment you're thinking, 'Why the hell are they here instead of being free?' Especially if they haven't got the right pens, with enough space, "inner environment" and with hundreds of noisy, shouting people you'd preferably like to kill on the spot looking at you all day... It's just sad, I think...
omg, that's my longest comment since I don't know even when lol...

Heh, yes that was a very long comment, thank you very much. Arn't bengal tigers the more endangered species? And I totally agree about the pacing/freedom issue, but another part of me is glad there are safari parks (not zoos, those places are just plain wrong) because if there weren't I wouldn't have the chance to see the more rarer animals on anything but TV and I also wouldn't have been able to take this pic. Thanks again for the comment!

Yeah, I fully agree about the safari parks. Animals, if kept in captivity, should be provided with adequate space and type of territory. And, in fact, the more endangered species is the Siberian Tiger whose population is now estimated at about 150-450 animals in the wild if I'm not mistaken, so their status is classified as 'critical'

You obviously know your stuff on this! I've always felt very strongly that animals should never be kept in zoos, and the one time I visited one I hated it. Also, I can't believe that there could be as little as 150 Siberian Tigers in the wild! I just looked at a list of extinct animals, and in Indonesia alone 128 mammals were recorded dying out... it could easily happen to the tigers too...

I agree, it does seem a little cruel. But I didn't put him in there! And to get it without the fence would have been a little tricky, getting in a pen with a tiger probably isn't the best idea. Thanks for the comment anyway.
