Description First attempt at concrete poetry. :/

Why can’t we all be like super heroes? Filled completely with good like the ones in the books? Why can’t we suppress the evil within us, and be models for kids with nowhere to look? Deep within us all we are capable of being a hero, including those who are known as nothing but villains. Deep down inside there’s a heart that is filled with love, but sometimes we don’t find it until we reach our end. Why can’t we all wear capes and save lives even if this means all we must do is be kind? Why can’t we be brave and fight off all of the monsters and give people a thought that is good for their mind? For many this could be a very hard challenge, yet, for a few, this may not be a challenge at all. So let’s go and let’s b like the comic book heroes and inspire young kids as we fill them with awe. But wait we can’t go, we are not quite prepared. We have not gained the courage or strength we need yet. This itself is a task that will be hard to complete due to the negative looks and comments we get. As heroes we must stand against negativity with faith that the world can be a much more positive place. When we are against our foes we must must remain strong and look for the good hidden on their face. So let’s go and put on our capes to be heroes.

All of us want to be heroes and the heroes we perceive are inside us. You truly emphasize that in your story. Your story IS a hero itself.

Wonderful use of the "concrete" part on your concrete poem, my dear! (: Your words are powerful and have great meaning to me, being a huge Batman nerd.

Keep up the great work!

I loved this! Very relevant to the times, especially considering the anti-bullying movements going on. This is worth putting on "Stand for the Silent"'s facebook page [link] . They are all about that. I think its run by the Smalley's whose son was featured in the movie Bully and committed suicide. This would be an appreciated message of hope.

So let me get this straight; concrete poetry is like regular poetry, only the structure of the poem is evocative of something else? That's pretty awesome and clearly represented here! I think the subject matter speaks to one's own perspective on a fundamental belief that humans as a race are either intrinsically good or intrinsically evil. On that same topic I personally find that apathy is the key reason we 'can't all be superheroes' as the poem suggests. Many of us (certainly not all) are raised in an environment where we're taught to look out for ourselves and that sentiment outstripes our desire to go beyond our comfort zone, exposing ourselves for the proverbial thorns and barbs of an occasionally harsh world.

That is exactly what concrete poetry is. And my, you have a wide vocabulary. I agree that apathy does contribute a lot to our inability to become super heroes, but I think a lot of it also has to do with people trying to create someone who is the better version of themselves rather than trying to become that version themselves.

Now I like this for several reasons, this resonates to the DC nerd inside of me, it appeals to my faith in humanity, it reminds me of the times as a boy I dressed up as batman...and it's shaped like the title, bravo

Wow, this is so cool grumpyunicorn!
The message is one that everyone should hear and it flows nicely. I like the way you're not afraid to use near-rhyming words. How long did it take to create the concrete? (had to take at least a couple of hours right?)

Thank you very much! I know this is hard to believe, but the concrete only took about an hour, if that. I'm surprised I did it that quickly.

Oh my goodness I think I love you
That is pretty amazing! I can only imagine how long it took to make the superhero with your words? Overall, though, the final affect was really, really cool!
I also really like the concept. I think if more people focused on bettering themselves instead of focusing on bettering other people... perhaps the world would be a bit better off.

Thank you! And actually.. It didn't take that long for me to create it And thank you very much. If we could stop forcing other people to be who we want to be and we could actually become that mage, how much better would this world become?

That's great! It's always a gift to be able to produce what you want and have it not take a thousand and one years

I agree completely, and you are most welcome!

I really enjoyed this and I love the concept/story behind it. It reminds me of a line from the book Divergent
"I believe in the courage it takes for one person to stand up for another."

I have never written a concrete poetry piece, but reading this makes me want to try. I enjoyed the concept because I believe it to be true, sometimes all it takes is a kind word to be someone's hero.

How ever did you do this?? I've tried countless times at concrete poetry and have failed each time. This is amazing. Absolutely spectacular (and know I'm not just talking about the concrete-ness of the poem).
