Just a freaky little thing I remembered from Super Smash Brothers Melee.Link's bizarre way of throwing his boomerang.
And what better character to be shocked about it than the one who's all about "the correct form" than...

I kinda hate it when people are saying the Wii fit trainer's the most random thing ever, were'nt R.O.B and Mr Game and Watch random, too?

But Mr Game and Watch had some connections to Mario and co.
Whereas the Wii Fit Trainer had NO connections with ANY of the other Nintendo characters at all.

He was a cameo character in Mario Kart DS. Therefore, he could be considered a character.

No it is indeed a very possible pose to be holding before tossing something.
But I always found it an incredibly awkward position to see him in the moment I pause it.
