It's supposed to be reminiscent of old paintings of ancient sea bottoms, nothing too specific. I actually haven't seen Fantasia in years and years and barely remember it.

Yep. They say that an "author's intent" (or an artist) is only as valid as the interpretations of the viewers, so..

(Fantasia is awesome! I haven't seen it since I was little, I can't believe this was done in 1940)
