Description Part of a comic strip I'm working on, which is frustrating me. This part came out nice, so I'll post it for now.

Also, Twilight is a particle physicist now.

If there were a competition to rank a story as 'Funniest in the Fandom', it would be a solid contender.

Hehe, I LOVE this! I've recently been reading up on these things, Brian Greene's "The Fabric of the Cosmos" (just finished) and now "The Particle at the End of the Universe" (in reference to the Higgs Boson), and I'm loving it sooooo much! I read while snuggling with my Twily plushie and we both read together

Looks like math gibberish to me. The top part looks like an attempt at a partial differential equation (that d looks like it could be a "del" operator).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

reddeath42 In reply to getcrack4me [2011-10-15 22:01:51 +0000 UTC]

I tried to make sense of it, but eventually I came to a similar conclusion. Thanks anyway.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

getcrack4me In reply to getcrack4me [2011-10-15 04:33:40 +0000 UTC]

Correction...it's not "del". Been awhile since I took Calculus. It actually doesn't really have a name (it's more of a messed up Greek delta): [link]

getcrack4me In reply to BuckGillian [2011-10-15 04:11:28 +0000 UTC]

e^(i*pi) + 1 = 0
has all the important constants in math: e, i, pi, 1 and 0.

e^i(pi)-1=0 ... -1 *cringe*

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Ganondox In reply to getcrack4me [2011-10-16 17:16:44 +0000 UTC]

I've always found -1 to be one of the most important constants, as it introduces inverting to iteration, which is a lot more fundamental to mathematics as a whole than Calculus and the constants related to Calculus. I'm more into the theoretical stuff than the applied stuff.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

getcrack4me In reply to Ganondox [2011-10-16 17:36:40 +0000 UTC]

Alright. Then I'll change it up for ya: e^(2*i*pi) - 1 = 0 Now you get "2" for "1".

Anyway I'm an engineer so far from the theoretical most of the time. (Reminds me of this: [link] )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Ganondox In reply to getcrack4me [2011-10-16 19:44:33 +0000 UTC]

Mathematics itself is divided into more or less pure stuff, where Calculus and Analysis probably being the closest thing to Physics, and Statistics is probably even less pure in a different way, Calculus is based on Algebra, Statistics is based on Probability which is in turn based on Combinatorics, and purest of math is....category theory, I think. Maybe logic. Something really abstract like that.
