Description
On a nice day Sherwood decided to go for a drive... and it looks like the Hooligans decided to tag along, but when you're cruisin' in a yellow Punch-Buggy can you really blame them for wanting to come along for the ride?

This was inspired by a conversation with a friend, just the thought of Sherwood & the Hooligans going for a drive in Sherwood's car.
I'm still trying to get better at drawing cars and this was a good exercise in doing just that.

I've noticed that a lot of folks who draw cars here on DA (Especially people who draw characters along with them) often jam pack the vehicles they draw with intricate detailing so I wanted to do something similar, granted there were a few details I decided to omit for stylistic reasons but for the most part I tried to make the car as accurate as possible.

I decided the best way to go on this would be to draw the car FIRST and then add in all of the characters afterwards, thankfully the VW New Beetle is a fairly simple car in terms of shape.
It's mainly just a bunch of curves, and thankfully having the real deal sitting in my driveway meant I wasn't short for reference material. XD
The main challenge that I was presented with was the fact that the car I was drawing is a Convertible while my actual car and any reference models I own aren't, so for that I did have to look up a few pictures.

If I hadn't made the car a convertible then you wouldn't have been able to see anybody in it, which would have defeated the point of the drawing.

Originally I was just going to leave the emblem on the hood as a standard Volkswagen Emblem, but I then I started thinking about maybe making it an In-Universe brand instead.
The Eggman Empire? The Resistance from Sonic Forces? a Chaos Emerald? all of these were suggested while I was working on this on stream a few weeks back, and they're all good ideas, but I just couldn't get any of them to look right.
And then it hit me, I decided to make the emblem a combination of my own Initials the same way the VW is presented, and in the end if turned out really nicely!

I really like including "Subtle Signatures" in my art, little ways of hiding my signature of name in the art outside of just the signature I put in the bottom right corner and this worked for that purpose perfectly!

The Car wound up being really intricate digitally, spanning over 30 layers, but it became even more intricate once I added the characters since they had to be layered properly so that they actually looked like they were sitting in the car and not just layered over the top of it.
And even then I faced a few challenges with them, Bark's face I must've redrawn 3 or 4 times, and when I started working on this digitally I had to do Bean TWICE since I realized I had made him too big in my sketch and hadn't caught it before I started working digitally.

Lastly there's the water under the bridge.
I really enjoy drawing water, about two years ago I found this really cool way of drawing water that I started using in my Inktober drawings and since then it's been my standard approach for it, but I've never tackled this approach digitally before.

Recreating my style of water digitally was a bit laborious and time consuming, but when I was done with it I was really happy with how it turned out!

Overall, I really am quite proud of how this turned out!
