Wolf Park had a "Winter Wolves" day today. Usually the Park is closed in the winter months, but this one day it was open so that visitors and members could see the wolves in their winter coats. It's breeding season for the wolves also, so that get's a bit tricky as things can be testy for the pack. We're hoping for puppies this year!!! It's been a long time since we've had puppies! I have an adorable 35mm that I must scan for you sometime... Anyway, the wolves LOVE winter and they love the ice! Now please keep in mind that I'm shooting through fencing so therefore I had to shoot on manual and thus, these are not of the best quality! But it will give you an idea of how exciting it was today just to see them! The pack at this time is 4 members. So here is all 4 out on the ice in a group howl. I only hope that when this downloads that it looks decent....otherwise I will yank it off.....

There are times when I'd like to howl at the moon like this also! LOL! I was SO happy that this shot turned out; you've no idea! I was so very far away and shooting through fencing. All I can say is I was just fortunate that it worked! They're just lovely! Wonderful stars!

it must be wondeful. ive heard a singul wolf howl but it was a short and pretty half hearted one from quite far away

I can be funny sometimes...one gets going, then the others slowly join..then they'll wind down...then someone will start again on all on his own...other times it's an "everybody's in on it" type of thing with all gusto!
