Description
Hi people, after a long hiatus, I am back and still alive π!Lately, my life has been hectic. Between my 9-to-5 job and pursuing a master's degree in Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy, I had little time for creative pursuits. And let me tell you, I felt the impact of that deeply. Art, especially photography, was my way of connecting with my inner self, my unconscious mind. But with the responsibilities of adulthood piling up, I found myself neglecting that precious connection. I seriously felt like a zombie or a robot for the past two years.
Another reason I put photography aside was my limiting belief that it wouldn't take me anywhere. But I was wrong. It may not have brought material success or achievements, but it brought me closer to myself. Photography, for me, is therapy. Funny enough, I discussed this during one of my recent therapy sessions, where the idea for this photo emerged.
So let's talk about "The Offering" and what it represents, beyond the image of a -clothless- girl bowing down and offering amethyst stones to a raven (yes, it's a raven πΏ, not a crow). Ravens are fascinating creatures often symbolized as harbingers of death, wisdom, and magic, representing both the shadowy aspects of life and the enigmatic realm of the supernatural.
Now, delving deeper into a Jungian interpretation of this picture.....
γ½(β’βΏβ’)γThe girl's nakedness represents vulnerability and authenticity, shedding societal masks and expectations, and returning to a primal self. Bowing down symbolizes humility and recognition of a higher power or more profound wisdom.
The raven symbolizes the shadow self and the unconscious aspects of our personality, often repressed or denied. It can also embody the trickster archetype, representing disruptive and transformative forces within us.
γ½(β’βΏβ’)γAmethyst, a purple gemstone associated with spirituality and intuition, symbolizes the integration of the spiritual and material realms. By offering amethyst stones to the raven, the girl acknowledges the need to reconcile and integrate her unconscious shadow aspects with her conscious self, seeking a harmonious balance.
γ½(β’βΏβ’)γThe dark contrast in the image represents the inherent duality of the human psyche. The interplay of light and dark signifies the existence of opposites and the potential for growth and transformation through their integration β―οΈ. It reflects the concept of individuation, the journey towards wholeness by integrating unconscious aspects into conscious awareness.
If you've made it this far, thank you for your patience π. I invite you to take a break from the external world and reconnect with your inner world. What's happening in there? How long has it been since you checked in with your soul? You may encounter fear or dismiss the idea, but stay and witness the richness and vitality of your inner world. It's easy to forget ourselves amidst the chaos of the world.
I'll end this by invoking one of Jung's mainstream, but still relevant (and little understood) quotes: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.".
Cheers!
