Oh- one more thing- they're not at all transparent, and in the wild, they're silver. They're so perfectly shiny that they resemble mirrors when they school. They are truly amazing fish. If you want to see some up close and personal without going around to every public aquarium asking if they have any, all Rainforest Cafe restaurants have them. I have personally sold several lookdowns to Rainforest Cafe, so I know that there's at least 10 schooling in the San Francisco restaurant archway with other tropical fish.

Okay. It's a Lookdown. That's what we call them in the trade- I sell tropical fish as a part-time job, and also volunteer at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on weekends. We don't have any lookdowns at the Aquarium, (they're tropical, not from Monterey!) but we sell them every once in a while at the aquatics store. Babies about dollar-piece size go for $150; young adults (about 10" long) go for about $500. They eat small fish and most zooplankton. (baby animals or animals that cannot swim against currents.) They get almost 2 feet in the wild, and are in the Jack family. (a group of what some people consider to be sportfishes.) I hope this helps.

Neat!! Really cool...and a different light source is neat too, I'd imagine that flash underwater would have lotsa glare. Speaking of which, did you take this through a glass in tank, or were you actually underwater? Awesome photo nonetheless.
