Description

      “Why so glum, Marge?”
“Oh, I’ve got to speak at my book club and I hate public speaking. My stomach is filled with butterflies.” She pulled a paperback out of her purse and held it up.
Little Richelle thought about it a minute. “Let me speak for you. I’m familiar with this author.”
“But you can’t speak...you’re a university teacher. They’re expecting humble old me.”
“Mrs. Simpson, you forget I’m a telepath. We can actually trade minds with somebody for a very brief span.”
Marge Simpson had an incredulous look on her face. “Get out of here...really?”
“Yes! It’s simple - I’ve done it. We could do the switch and I could do your speech. You could whip up a little dinner for your family, and no one would be the wiser.”
     “Horsefeathers! Really?”
“Close your eyes and relax.” Richelle placed her small hands on Marge’s skull.
“All this hoo-doo,” Marge commented. “I don’t even feel any different.”
     “Open your eyes, Marge.”
Marge opened her eyes, and saw herself standing there. What was more, she had to look up.
Richy looked down at her new pair of feet. “Do you really wear a 13AA? How do you find shoes?”
Marge, in Richy’s body, began that angry growl.
“I’m just kidding Marge. Let’s get ready for your book club.”

Seems like a perfect plan for Richy and her gifts, but seeing as this is a Simpson's episode, something's got to go haywire. I got this idea last weekend, and we've seen it on shows like Futurama and even Family Guy. Always a funny gag, there will be more of these.

Marge is the property of Matt Groening. Richelle Davies is the property of Robert L. Fitzpatrick.

Is Richelle from a show or something?

Richelle is my character, and I just like to toss her in with other show characters.

Just imagine if Homer wants to get frisky.

Is that actually cheating on Marge when someone else is inhabiting her noggin?

Pretty much. What was actually going through my mind was Homer asking where his green socks were, and Marge as Richy being able to answer him. "Second drawer on the right - where they always are...you know this." And then getting that strange look.

A mental switcheroo, eh?  I think Richy as a telepath has made a big mistake in trying to help with Marge's presentation at her book club.  And on top of everything else, she still has to put up with remarks about her shortness.  Of course, as Marge, Richelle cannot get used to having Marge's gunboat feet.  A nice little bit of sci-fi humor.  The subject of this new artwork of yours also reminds me, strangely, of the Outer Limits episode "The Human Factor," wherein a malfunctioning machine causes a psychiatrist to switch minds with his patient, a psychotic, paranoid Army officer.  Nicely done.

Thanks. Oh yeah, this has been done over the years. It's also a tiny bit like the old Twilight Zone "The Four of us are Dying."

I vaguely recall that TZ episode.  I may have to watch it again to refresh my memory.  I'll also be trying to incorporate Richelle in more of my artwork, though in a humorous vein of course.  No telepathy scenarios or similar sci-fi settings.

It wasn't quite the same thing - it was some guy who was able to change his face and become other people...and it caught up with him. This is more like that goofy Futurama episode where everyone switched identities.

I'll have to take a look at that Futurama episode as well.  When you described a man on Twilight Zone who could change his facial appearance, that also reminded me of the Outer Limits episode "The Hundred Days of the Dragon," in which an agent from a hostile Asian country through the use of a special secret drug is able to mold his facial features like modeling clay and assume any appearance he wanted.  In this case; to look like and replace the president of the United States.

Speaking of things Asian, did I ever ask you to identify a movie for me that I saw years ago on TV? It was the craziest darn thing, and I don't have a clue as to what it was. Some American spy or something, who had been brainwashed during the Korean War, was trying to alert the US government to some sort of Asian plan about burrowing through the middle of the Earth to get to America. In one scene that vividly sticks out in my mind, he was on a sidewalk in Las Vegas listening to the ground. He kept trying to tell the people around him that, "they were coming...can't you hear them?" As you would expect, they soon called the police to have him picked up. I thought it was "Invasion U. S. A.," but I don't think it is. Have you ever seen anything like this? I saw it on TV in Arizona around 1973.

I regret that I have never seen that particular movie, therefore, I couldn't possibly give you it's name.  Sorry about that, good buddy.

Some movies are just completely out of print...gone.

Yes.  Sad but true.  And that especially holds true for the older movies that were shot on nitrate stock which was as flammable as a gasoline-soaked match.  Many classic films, especially silent films, went up in flames.

It was sad studying up on some of these old films only to read that no copies actually existed anymore.

If I ever made a Simpson's episode I would base it off of Village of the Giants with the Simpson's family growing to 200 or 500 feet tall but every time someone tries to stop their growing it gets worse.
