About 65 hours of work. Even if it didn't pay off, it was still great patience-building experience. Huzzah! I was also working with critiques from loads of awesome people on LJ and Polykarbon the whole time, so much gratitude goes out to them.

I am probably going to ask a really stupid question here man.....ah fuck it.....here goes, did you sketch the initial drawing/idea out first and then process it through photoshop to do the painting. i know i could draw suff like this if really put my mind to it. but when i finish it in pencil i get pissed off because thats it finished but i know it could look so much better.[link]

The initial sketch for this was done in Photoshop. It's nothing really different from working in pencil first, aside from the fact that it's on a digital canvas instead of paper.

I see, i have a graphics tablet here which im sure is a hell of a lot easier to use than a mouse is. Have you done work for films or anything? i get a sort of asian tattoo feel from the postures in your work its real unique.

Those ears are wicked! If you don't mind me asking what provoked you to make the gashes glow blue from inside? I ask because my nightmare character has a bit of the same thing going on... in much crappier art of course

The glow is supposed to reflect his ridiculously high metabolism, and give me an excuse to abuse Color Dodge also. I... like glowy blue stuff. Don't really have a better reason.
