Description
Well, here is my Road's C-21 in my GFRR color scheme wich I now call the "Forrest Scheme".Originaly I was going to hold off on posting them so I could edit it the number and name of the locomotive.
Now this scheme was first used on the GFRR #2 "Pioneer". A 2-6-0 Mogul built by Danforth Cooke. Though many of the GFRR's locomotive are second hand and thus have different schemes. One of them being "Russia Iron". That will be shown in the next "Alternate scheme".
Hope you guys like! Enjoy!

It does, though I feel that for this engine a different scheme would look better.

Much Obliged! I've become rather fond of this scheme, though for this engine I'm not sure.
That's why I made copies of the line art and am experimenting with different color schemes to see what might work better.
I posted a second one I call Russia Iron.

For some reason the first thing that comes to mind whenever I see this scheme is the CP Royal Hudsons...regardless of the green boiler.
Very well done!

You betcha! Considering 611 used to be quartered here, I wouldn't say it's a big surprise!

I've considered designing a Steam Streamliner.
Well a Standard Gauge one anyway.

Why not a narrow gauge one? Even if only semi-streamstyled?
Okay, so I don't know of any ng lines where they ran trains that fast but it'd at least look cool!

Yeah, but the fastest I've heard of a NG train going is around 50 mph. Generaly they tend to stick around the 30 and 40 mph range, at least for three foot gauge.

One of the best paint scheme's I've ever seen on a narrow gauge engine.

This is really good! This looks similar to the train I've been coloring on your comic. Is it the same one? If so, this would make a great reference pic! =O

Actually No. Though the train sitting in the background is. (the one with the Old Timer smoke stack)
The engine thats atually comming into town is painted differently. I just posted an alternate color scheme for this C-21. Its called "Russia Iron", the cab, tender, cowcatcher, wheels, ect.. is black. The Cab and Tender have Gold/Yellow trim on it.

The drawings I just posted, or the ones in the comic?

I meant the posted drawings compared to the ones in the comic.
I can tell that the two trains you colored now are copies; one with a few detail changes and, of course, different color schemes.

Yes, the C-21's are the different color schemes.
You see I NEVER COLOR my originals, as I'm sure you can tell If I'd mess up it'd be a MAJOR pain having to re-draw it!

Good idea. I used to want a light table to trace over my drawings with ink pens, but now, I know how to do line art in Photoshop. (Or I have the basic concept down at least.)

Yeah, I meant the train in the background of the comic page, not the one pulling into the station. (I've colored more of the background train than the one pulling into the station.)
*Does not know which one a C-21.*

gunslinger87 In reply to LadyTigerLiLy [2009-04-28 23:51:12 +0000 UTC]
In that case yes! The one in the background is colored in the Forrest Scheme.
Though neither of the trains in the comic page are C-21's. The one in the background is a 2-6-0 Mogul and the one comming into the station is a 2-8-2 K-27 class Mikado.
Yes, I know that all sounds like a bunch of gibberish!

gunslinger87 In reply to LadyTigerLiLy [2009-04-29 00:02:41 +0000 UTC]
Well I see how they would to the untrained eye.
The engines in the comic are not C-21's. The one comming into the station is what is called a "Second Phase" K-27. :nerd
Though the picture I JUST posted is a C-21 in the Russia Iron scheme which the K-27 ALSO has.
I'll see if I can find something to help explain basic Steam Locomotive classification. Perhaps that may help to.

Oh, I have been on one of those little amusement park train thingies. And I don't know what those other things are, but I did take some sort of little city train thing (I can't even remember when that was or where... I think it was on a school trip somewhere.) And I did take a type of underground train thing at the airport in California...
I meant a TRAIN train, not like a subway train.

Ah yes. There are very few Subways that qulify as an actual train.
Some amusment parks have REAL trains, such as Dollywood. They use REAL Steam engines that originaly ranon the White Pass & Yukon Route RR in Alaska!!!

The only amusement parks I've been to on this side of the US are Carowinds and Busch Gardens Europe. I've never been to Dollywood.
Yeah, that's what I meant before. I've never been on a steam engine.

In my personal opinion, one of if not the best place to ride a Steam Train is the Strasburg RR in PA!
For me that's what started my obseesion! (to put it mildly)
Though there "Day Out With Thomas" engine weirds me out!
Here, Take a Look!

Oh, IT IS!!!!!!!!!
Its just the face on the engine that weirds me out!
But it is an AMAZING PLACE! Its America's oldest "Shortline" Railroad. It was Founded in 1832! They officialy have the WORLD's BEST Collection of Wooden passenger Cars! ALL they use are antique Steam Locomotives from Pre 1930!
They're engine #475, originally owned and operated by the former Norfolk &Western RR, is over 100 YEARS OLD!!! It was built WAY BACK in June of 1906!!!
They've also have the State RR museum right across the street. There are numourous stores, giftshops, and a restauraunt to!
Heck! They even have a First Class Wooden Dinning car that they still use regularly!!!
The whole RR is smake in the middle of Amish Country and its almost like traveling back in time!
Its one of those places that you HAVE to visit to really understand the "Magic" of Strasburg!

Make sure your Russia Iron is grey and shiny looking.
As someone that has researched and seen surviving pieces of it in person I can tell you that is what it looks like.

gunslinger87 In reply to ferroequine [2009-04-28 23:09:38 +0000 UTC]
Yes, I know about the grey and shinnyness.
But I didn't have the colors to do so in my art tool arsinle.
So I comprimised and used a light/sky blue. I myself have grown more fond for the grey but I had to use what I hade on hand.
