Description
So it's been a while and I've made a bit of progress with my HOn30 Roaring Creek mini layout. I've added a foam board base and put down a little road bed which is made from Woodland Scenic's N scale "Track Bed". It's supposed to me a sound absorbing foam product and it's the right profile for my HO narrow gauge pike. The angle is taken is showing where the grade starts, which would begin just after entering a tunnel. I need to add a shim where the sub roadbed meets the foam board as the notch I carved was a little too deep. So as to make a smoother transition to the 5% grade I'll need to shim it a bit.

This is what I love about HOn30, it's still HO, but it takes much less space.
Unless it's my HOn30 layout, then the curve track you've bought will be 'just' to the edge of your space, because the tightest thing you can find at a hobby store is 11"

That's why I'll be using a combination of flex track and hand laid train. The flex track will be used in tunnels and such to minimize the possibility of derailments. Whereas all seen track work will be hand laid. This makes it much easier to make your own curves and such.
