I'd like to tell you I don't know what it is about homeless shots I love...But I do know...The lighting and shadow create so much mood and drama. In my own sick way, I miss all of that... I miss writing songs, I miss being depressed, and yet at the same time, I don't. Call me crazy.Related content

I was experrimenting with night shots all winter and never came out with anything like this. This is great, lighting is so interesting.

You know, I really love your series of these kinda shots. this one has so much mood, so much feeling in it. Everything has just the right of black and white to make out what it is, yet keep it mysterious. The body language of the figure is wonderful too, not utterly hopeless, yet not anywhere near happy either, it's very intriguing. Odd that I don't read depression in it too much. The fact he's looking at his surroundings is perhaps a sign he's not totally lost in his own thoughts and world, which depression often is.
And you're not crazy for that either... being artistic in whatever form gives rise to intense emotions, which in turn fuel intense art or words, or music. it can bring out our best creativity, but it doesn't mean it's plesant. Far from it. Whenever someone tells me "god I wish I was able to draw like you" I tell em, "hell no you don't. Being an artist to this degree and needing to find perfection when you never will is a form of self torture".
Fortunately for me, I get kicks from torture... *grin*
A gorgeous photo nontheless though, you should really make a print of it. I'd buy it.

the whole kicks on torture. amen girl. i sadly have to admit, it is food to me...its food... ive even written a few songs on how i'd love to go back to my depression days just for some lyrics. but yeah, thats my whole music side. hopefully one day i can share that with you. your comment is simple amazing. i hope i hear from you more.

I really like this picture! Just the fact that it is simple with the lighting, yet powerful at the same time. it almost portrays those feelings of aloneness and dejectedness (is that a word) that we all seem to have sometimes.

You're not crazy. A lot of people feel the same, they just have better means of hiding it. I'm the same way but with depression really, it's anger. Anyways... this picture really caught my eyes! The anonymous feel of it, how it could probably be anyone, the lighting and shades add the perfect touches. Great job, I have to favorite!
