Description After receiving some very encouraging comments from deviants wishing to fold my origami models I decided to post this tutorial.

I recommend you use at least 15cmx15cm paper size. Best folded using thickish paper, but basically any paper will do.

It is sufficient to simply fold without reading the small print below each step. It is only for reference purpose, for example if you got stuck and don't know how to execute that particular step. I used standard origami symbols to draw this diagram.

Note the final few steps I deliberately put extra effort to describe the locking mechanism of the hip, this part can be difficult but interesting.

You may not be able to succeed in your first trial, but that is common, even for me, I suppose you may need to try at least twice before getting a satisfactory product. That is not your problem, but mine, because I failed to draw a better diagram But at least you know how I fold this model

I would love to see finished product from people who managed to complete this model, that would make me very happy

Note: If you plan to use the diagram for purpose other than personal reference or teaching purpose, please inform me in advance. Thank you

I feel so triumphant to have actually finished making it, especially since I don't really know all the origami terms that well... How do you "rabbit ear" something?

This is really fun!

I haven't done origami in ages, but seeing your stuff really rekindled the flame. I just grabbed a sheet out of my old hoard and folded it in front of my computer β€” it turned out really great. The sink came out a little sloppy, but meh, first try and all that. It's a fun fold; challenging, but not brain-shreddingly difficult.

Also, terribly, terribly cute.

Thanks a lot!

I made this corgi. >>
I got to step 23 and my brain went poof, but I kind of 'elegantly forced' the paper to do what I wanted it to.. The back view looks slightly different, but overall it's the same.

oh man. i love origami, and so i saw this, and i'm all, yippie! ...and then i see the sink move. my nemisis. so here's my plea for help: i'm stuck on step 25, where i'm supposed to sort of double sink the tail. i've got that first sink, no problem, but then i'm not sure exactly which parts go where in the second sink. the tail keeps trying to fold itself down so the dog ends up in a sort of L shape, w/ his tail hanging off the table, instead of like an I with his tail straight. i'll keep trying it, but in the meantime, any help you can offer would be lovely.

thanks, and great tutorial.
i'm just a little slow...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

guspath In reply to Bold-Dragon [2005-07-29 07:28:35 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I think you need to consider origami as something symetrical so sometimes I only draw one side of the model, but the other side need to be done as well You got to step 22? That is pretty good Let me know the progress

I...eheee......um.......gave up. >>....Mebbe I'll try again.... Its just that other leg that's bothering me!

*wanders off, mumbling bout stupid difficult origami*

do you create or make up all your designs?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

guspath In reply to gz12wk [2005-07-22 07:22:00 +0000 UTC]

Any difference between the two? I create all the stuff based from knowledge I gained by folding others creation. Just like music, you have 7 notes and you arrange those 7 notes in any combination you desire and you get yourself music. Of course in origami, there is more than 7 notes, but less than the no. of vocabulary in a language Thank's for commenting

guspath In reply to meredith [2005-07-14 01:48:31 +0000 UTC]

step 13? Let me see... I see Step 12 is done to give pre-creases for step 13, so all you have to do is spread open the tail and reverse fold the tail upwards using the lines you made in step 12. Its like this peacock tail: [link] or this leaf pattern [link] . Let me know if I am not making any sense

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

meredith In reply to guspath [2005-07-14 20:23:50 +0000 UTC]

AHHA! hahaha that shouldnt have been so hard for me, i have NO idea why it ws. i sat here looking at it, knowing what i was supposed to be doing ... kind of and then just now it worked!
only now im stuck at 17/18! hahahaha i know i think reverse folds are my bane!
i have mine looking like 17, but 18, im just not sure of. i dont understand whats going on with the tail. its about half the height of the last image, but im not sure how to make mine look like that!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

guspath In reply to meredith [2005-07-16 00:58:33 +0000 UTC]

Haha Glad you understood my explanation for step 13.

Hm.. step 17 is just like step 12, pre-creasing to give lines for the subsequent steps. I mentioned rabbit ear because from origami literature that is how they call it I can't really find a similar step as my step 17 but maybe this can help: [link] Let me know if this doesn't make sense.

Glad you tried that far, can't wait to see the finished result
