I really like the blocky style you've used here, broad brush, bold strokes. He's full of character and needs a strong depiction like this, I really REALLY love this one!  <3

i figured out that i should zoom out and look at the face as a whole, and balance out the details, and shade values. better than the ones i spend more time on details. have you seen Alberto Mielgo's paintings?

No, I haven't, but I just Googled him and WOW.  He aces the planes and shadows of the body very effectively!  I really like what you did with this pic, Ben, and you're right - sometimes the spontaneous and loose looks better than something we worked on for ages.
