UPDATE: Process video available here !
My commissioned D.Va piece by Deviantart, for Blizzard Entertainment's Overwatch!
This piece was as much fun as it was challenging, and it was a great experience for me! What struck me about the character was how energetic she is, so I tried my best to show that here!

Probably because the surrounding green bits are horizontal and your eyes want to follow that?
My eyes go from face to body ( ( Ν‘Β° ΝΚ Ν‘Β°) )Β to hand.Β

are they that stupid? Not only does this belong to a famous artist-
BUT DA and Overwatch/blizzard has stake in this piece cause its a commision and therefor also their property
So they could get into serious LEGAL trouble

I love how you're doing this and I bet s/he appreciates it too but they probably won't see it, hidden under the tons of comment they get. You might want to consider sending a note Β

Is it okay if I appropriate the pose for my own drawing? I know this pose isn't anything new, yet I really like this specific angle.

Solid image man, you need to update her hand, a finger is missing and the knucles are not line up with the pointing finger. Solid colors and composition adding it to favs.

Its part of the palm, because it doesnt have a pinky knukle. Also look at the gun hand, it only shows a thumb. This could be easily edited. I like the image, thats why i have it in favs.

Awesome job capturing D.Va's personality throughout the entire piece.Β Also, nice job replicating her palette throughout the background; this helps give D.Va a nice setting to make her pop even more.Β Plus, I get a Ghost in The Shell feeling from this piece due to your handling of the palette, lighting, and line art.

I just finished watching your video, and the first comment I have to make is that it was AMAZING watching the cityscape come to life. First it started with some strokes for shading, but then you began to add color, and the signs really brought it to life. All the little windows and such really gave a sense of the SCOPE of what buildings in that time period are like, I felt like I were whisked away to something that'd be right at home in Star Wars. All the neon signs both big and small really breathed life into the background, and I don't think this artwork would've been as good without it, because it just really brought South Korea to life.
After that came you working on D.Va herself. It took a lot of groundwork, but you really brought all the little contours and details of her catsuit to life with your brilliant use of color and shading, and it was really cool how you shaded more-isolated pieces with that one tool you used to give certain aspects more definition. Your work on D.Va's hair was also excellent, and it really had a windswept vibe to it, since the wind CAN get pretty strong as it moves around tall buildings like those shown in the picture. Her "Light Gun" looked like something straight out of a sci-fi film, or maybe even a Mega Man Zero/ZX/ZXA game because you captured the shape and all the little contours so well. Then you started to work on the smaller details of D.Va's catsuit, and I can definitely envision the bright neon lights reflecting off the material; which I assume is partly-metallic in composition to aid in survivability. After it skipped forward a couple more minutes, what you did with her earpieces was way cool, especially how you made the light glint and how it affected the particulates in the air around them.
The hovercars you added were way cool too, and even though they were so small, the DETAIL you took into them was amazing, and really gave a sense of the SCOPE of what a future city would be like. I always figured cities like that would be big, maybe arranged into layer-like super-structures, but I never thought they'd be THAT big until I saw the scale you put into your work.
I think you did an EXCELLENT job when it came to the contours of Hana Song's body, because while she isn't even in her 20s yet, you still showed off her feminine curves, while not detracting from the muscle tone that came with the military training it must've taken to effectively pilot a MEKA suit. You achieved a great balance between beauty and power in the context of your subject that was practically perfect. All the details to her face really brought her to life as well, from the markings on her face to her facial expression, which did a great job of portraying her character. The little lights twinkling in her eyes also made me envision what must've been in FRONT of her as well, and when I think about it, I can see a vew of the cityscape that cuts all the way to the sea; that's just how good a job you did with the background.
Last but not least was your choice in music, which really brought the video to life in context. It made the fourteen minutes just FLY by, and I enjoyed every second of it. It made me feel like, by the end, I were looking at a still from one of D.Va's podcasts as she shows off the cityscape of her home, and reminding the other MEKA pilots just what they're fighting for.
Keep up the great work! I'm hoping Blizzard Entertainment commissions you for more work on Overwatch, and I look forward to seeing more of your amazing works as well. The video of the process as-it-happened really brought the time and effort it took to make these works of art into perspective, and only increased my appreciation of them all the more.
