Armor practice. I drew some knight character so long ago and it looks really terrible now>.>

I thought I would try to improve a little since I like the medieval idea~ As usual no story or anything fancy, but I recorded the process and hopefully I'll get to editing it a bit soon.

Your female characters are all so compelling. You manage to paint them gorgeous, and sometimes sexy. Yet they maintain a kind of agency to them (a purpose, their own desires, a story). They don't feel like they exist for the male gaze, but for themselves. I love them! Keep up the good work. You've found a balance so few artists manage to find.

I love the use of smudge tool at some edges ( I hope I am right otherwise I'm gonna look like a donkey...), and how you make the not important parts fade with it. Lovely colors too. Not easy to use grey well but I think you pretty much nailed it!

I read that, look at the picture once again and laugh thinking that you might be delusional.
However, upon further inspection, I think I understand where you're coming from:

  • First of all, whatever comes out of your hands, even if you claim it's shit, it's still damn good shit. Always remember that!
  • In comparison to the other picture you linked in the description, this armor feels bit generic, aside from the awesome ragged cloth effect
  • The position of the arm in comparison to her body feels awkward. Is that her arm holding the sword, or is it someone else's? Most likely I'm not seeing it right, but it feels like her arm is bent (or even stretched) in some impossible way if we were to extend the frame.
  • Is she supposed to be holding that sword, or is the moment pictured here supposed to show some movement where she's either about to grab the sword or let it loose?


    • Still, it's really good. Don't knock yourself too much over it, no matter how much I can wholeheartedly agree with you about perfection.
