I can do that. BlueJay is a complex character; he's got a lot of detail on him. What is that, blue flame for his wings?
I'll leave out the shoulder tattoos and I could streamline the costume by removing some details like those hip pouches. I thought of maybe putting him in the famous Led Zeppelin pose of the 'dying angel' you may have seen before. Let me know your thoughts...

Ah...you're looking at the Extreme version of Bluejaye...the wings are like a blue flame or energy, yes...I am not familiar with the Led Zeppelin pose of the 'dying angel'...where can I check that out at? Anyway, here is the main costume for Bluejaye: [link]

Sorry man. It's been ages since I was on DA. Last time I was on this site was over 2 months ago I think.
I'll be cleaning up my studio in the next couple of days and then I'll start up on some new drawings. I checked your link to Bluejaye and it's great drawing--good job on the wing design.

You mean with his hair covered and all? Me too but I dig that his hair turns blue when he's using the energy for wings and his spirit lance...

i do like the energywings. Real wings I don't find all that intimidation. It's probably a bias, though. When I see a character with wings I make a connection to angel(x-men) and automatically think "useless" so the new powers are definitely a plus for me. I like the mask because with it Bluejaye seems to be making an effort to conceal his secret identity.

Yeah...the energy wings was a great idea of 's! I know whatcha mean about the wings and the connection with Angel...lol...although Bluejaye could whup up on Warren...lol...glad you dig the mask...I definately want him to conceal his identity...and I would think so does his girlfriend...lol

Kind of the main reason why I subtracted the mask is because Blue Jaye in his normal identity from what I could tell is a boy who turns into a man to be Blue Jaye. But not just a man, an angel. Due to the complete metamorphisis AND the fact an angel would think to need a mask I didn't see a point to having a mask at all but Gabe insisted so we added one

Wow. I didn't remember that detail. Now that you mention it, the mask really isn't necessary, is it? I stand corrected. I still prefer the look of that mask on him, but I agree with you on this. The only reason BJ would need a mask would be perhaps to conceal his identity from other angels? Thanks a lot for the correction. That adjustment to his uniform was well though out.
btw., kudos on making BJ, as an angel look less like the standard superhero and more...I dunno...magical, i guess.

Yeah I felt I owed at least that to Gabe. With all the Extreme versions of the characters I tweaked bits of their origins the way Marvel did in the Ultimate verse. Because I took away bits that made it more Angellic an origin I felt I should incorporate a more angellic appearance. Without the mask it did end up looking a bit more like Angel even with the energy wings but I think the mask does give it a little something extra especially with making the nose look more like a beak.

Somebody just pointed out to me DC Comics already have a character called Blue Jaye, did you know this at all? Seems Adam was being very careful not having Star Superion look too much like Captain America or Superman as caution incase he was sued yet you have a character named after another. Well, that's part of the reason that I spelled the name differently...and made it so that only his girlfriend had spelled his name that way "Jaye" and therefore suspected who he was when she discovered the spelling herself...but in answer to your question, no, I have never heard of or even seen this Bluejay from DC before in my life until now and I have all the who's who books (except maybe 2 or 3)...lol...thanks for the update though...and besides wings, my Bluejaye looks nothing like him...anyway, you can always fix the mask on your turnaround and repost it...if ya wanna anyway...

I actually knew nothing about the other Blue Jay. It was a friend of mine who got this old Superman book as a gift and it just clicked when he say the turnaround. I'm pretty much in s similar situation, I have a character called Kameleon. there's no other character with that spelling but there's like 3 called Chameleon is various comic universes.

So as long as they don't resemble each other too closely, you should be good with the different spelling...well that and Chameleon and Bluejay are animals which I don't think they can hold against you...look how many Ghosts there are...lol...I look forward to the update bud!

Yeah I thought that as well. There is more of link to the animal for my character but I think Kameleon looks like a cooler spelling theres's a reason within the origin for it as well
So are these colours the final colours or a guide? The colours I used in the one I sent you were taken from the original design. I noticed you used colouring pencils which might explain why yours looks lighter but I'm wondering for Adam's sake how strong the colour should be.

There are old pictures of him but I've been meaning to redesign him for awhile. Everytime I come up with a design I like I either a)hate it when it's coloured or b) become inspired by something else and want to incorpoate it. I have an idea in my noodle what I want him to look like now but need to put pencil to page. Might do that today actually...
