Probably; that would definitely explain the new holographic display, which makes it next-to-impossible to tell which alien you're selecting(which is likely another factor in Ben's "wrong alien" problem). I mean, if Azimuth is going to give Ben a new omnitrix, wouldn't it make more sense to give him something better than Albedo's ulitmatrix, instead of worse?!?!

Speaking of the ultimatrix, am I the only one who thinks that some of the ultimate aliens made no evolutionary sense(looking squarely at you, Big Chill and Humongousaur)?

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-20 22:38:41 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. Especially after his big speech about how it is the perfect Omnitrix. The worse part is that the Ultimatrix was supposed to be home-made and not perfect, yet it STILL worked better than this crap--'

Well.... that depend how you look at it honestly. I guess it doesn't indeed for some, but it's still less stupid than, let's say, LEGO aliens.

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-20 23:15:04 +0000 UTC]

It gets even worse when you remember that the ultimatrix was, originally, one of Azmuth's failed projects... yet Albedo managed to make a far superior omnitrix out of it than Azmuth did with the new one... and he did it in a cave... WITH A BUNCH OF SCRAPS!!!(Ironman reference for the lulz) I seriously wanted someone to point this out to Azmuth, or for Ben to at least have take a look at it and fix it if need be(as well as eat some humble pie while he's at it).

... Seriously, why does Bloxx exist? And why does Ben use him so often?

XDDDD Glad to see I wasn't the only one to make a connection between this and the Iron Man movie^^ I am honestly surprised nobody made a meme with that.

Actually I think it's almost pointed out: After Albedo gets the Ultimate function in the Ultimate Heist, he does say mockingly he no longer wants the Omnitrix because what he has is so much better. Problem is, he is clearly supposed to be wrong. And yet They do NOTHING to prove him wrong: with the exception of the Atomix fight and a short scene with Feedback all their ensuing fight end with Albedo kicking Ben's asses.

No idea. Worst part is, some fans seem to like him.

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-20 23:54:51 +0000 UTC]

Worse is that, even though he can finally stay in his true form, he still remains a villain for some stupid reason.

How exactly could they have made the new ultimatrix worse than the new omnitrix?

Plus, Feedback is already a deus ex machina and Atomix was pretty much the writers turning on Ben's "god mode."(at least, before he got control of Alien X...)

I guess that Bloxx can be useful, but there are plenty of other aliens that have similar powers and could do his job better.

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 00:17:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah that bugged me too. They justified it by saying he was looking for revenge for all the imprisonment and humiliation, which I guess is fair... but then he tried to absorb Azmuth's intelligence in a plan that REALLY was cartoonish supervillain. And his other episodes have him team up with Vilgax, even though the first time it happened Vilgax double-crossed him, and he did it again the second time.--'

The better question is, how could they have made the new Omnitrix BETTER than the Ultimatrix. Cause clearly they made no effort.

Indeed. In fact giving Ben overpowered aliens is a recurring problem with Omniverse; the Omnitrix malfunctionning practically si the only thing keeping him from stomping all the bad guys.

Indeed. And again he is stretching the suspension of disbelief waaaaay too much. I find it kinda shocking that the same people complaining about how a Pyronite cannot possibly have children with a human apparently have no problem with an alien somehow evolving to look just like friggin' LEGO!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-21 00:38:52 +0000 UTC]

Plus, when he actually did absorb Azmuth's intelligence, he began to realize how stupidly petty he's been... and then the intelligence is un-absorbed(if that's even a word) and goes back to being stupidly petty, again.
And seriously, he's working with Vilgax AGAIN? Did he not learn from getting back-stabbed the first time?

True, the new omnitrix functions like ass. Perhaps it's some form of commentary on how poorly new tech works in comparison to older versions... or maybe it's just lazy writing...

It wouldn't have even been so bad to have Atomix be so friggin' powerful(hell, there's probably a reason why Kenny from "Ken 10" wanted him as one of his aliens) if they'd given him some kind of drawback.

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 02:12:50 +0000 UTC]

Oh, God, I remember that part. Word don't suffice to describe how PISSED I was by this. For a second I thought the arc would finally get interesting, and the writers immediatly dropped this just so they could show off Atomix's incredibly ugly design and boring powers. Talk about wasting a cool idea.

Oh, it's worse than that: Vilgax betray him the second time as well, and yet he STILL teams up with him a third time later on. I THOUGHT HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE SMARTER THAN THE AVERAGE GALVAN!!

lol probably lazy writing, but that would have been funny^^

Agreed. Like having him being usable only for a limited time because he might cause a nuclear meltdown if abused. I think they suggested it was the case, but it was never shown. And talking about Ken 10, they completely miss the point of Toepick. I mean, if he is THAT powerful, why would Ken not want him?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-21 02:33:13 +0000 UTC]

I guess Albedo inherited OV Ben's stupidity.

True... then again, Omniverse isn't smart enough to do commentary.

I agree with you on Atomix(while I'm "okay" with his design, I agree that it could use some tweaking), they should've made it so that he's powerful, but also dangerous. Plus, on top of your idea, they could've added that, since he's nuclear powered, Ben should NEVER use him in even remotely populated areas.

They should've just made Toepick ΓΌber-gross instead of what they did do with him.

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 02:37:50 +0000 UTC]

So do I...

Agreed. And I don't think they even want to be.

Exactly. And as for his design, well... I just felt it was waaaaay too robotic-like and bulky. Both which have been already overused, the former in UA and the latter in OV.

Yeah. That could have worked.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-21 03:02:04 +0000 UTC]

Agreed, though some of OV's redesigns did help to make some of the aliens less robotic(ex.: Water Hazard and Eatle). However, you're also right that others' make them overly bulky(poor, poor Big Chill).

How would you have done Atomix's design?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 03:22:14 +0000 UTC]

True. Water Hazard's redesign was an improvement. As for Eatle... well, I didn't care much about him to begin with and the redesign did nothing to change my mind. But GOD was I pissed about Big Chill...

Well, I don't know if you saw it but someone did a redesign of him as a skinny radioactive alien with a gaz mask. It was actually pretty cool.

You're not the only one.

I saw that one: www.deviantart.com/art/Atomix-… , It's an interesting idea.

Going back to the pairings, though, does anyone else find it both hilarious and sad that the best-executed and developed pairing in the Ben 10 franchise is between Ben and Gwen?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 04:15:39 +0000 UTC]

Yes actually, that was the design I was referring to^^

Yes, I did find that hilarious^^ in fact it was so well done they tried to pair Ben and Kai by mimicing it. And failing at doing so.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-21 04:59:03 +0000 UTC]

Hell, the Ben/Gwen subtext is still there in the UAF era(though, obviously, far less common since... y'know, Gwevin and all...), just watch their first scene together in Alien Force, or "Catch a Falling Star" in Ultimate Alien(btw, one of the best UAF era episodes). They obviously have more genuine, natural chemistry than almost all of the in-canon pairings.

It's especially hilarious because the Ben/Gwen pairing was completely by accident, but was done extremely well, while the Ben/Kai pairing was intentional, but was done poorly(and yet, for some reason, Ben ends up marrying her rather than... y'know, ANYONE else!!!).

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 11:01:12 +0000 UTC]

Really? I thought it felt less like incest subtext and more like they were really close cousins. But that's just me. On a note,Β  Catching a Falling Star seems to be a very controversial episode: many felt the episode was too dark and it ruined it. Me? I actually liked it. Matter of tastes I guess^^

Lol yeah that's kinda hilarious in hindsight^^ Honestly the only reason they ended up married was because Man of Action said they would in the Original Series and OV is all about doing what the Oriignal Series says, even when it doesn't make sense...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-21 22:38:45 +0000 UTC]

In my opinion, "Catch a Falling Star" is actually what we needed more of in the UAF era. After all, Ben is growing up, so it makes sense for him to face darker threats and more serious topics as he gets older.

Hell, marrying Looma or Attea would've made more sense than Kai... and they're villains.

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-21 23:06:44 +0000 UTC]

True but in a way this was a bit pushing it for some fans. Personally it didn't bother me and I was really mad OV retconned this episode out of existance. I feel both Jennifer and Nemesis had been made more interesting by this episode.

Indeed^^

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-21 23:52:27 +0000 UTC]

Wait, they retconned-away that whole episode? Goddamnit!

Also, that first scene with Ben and Gwen was practically straight-up flirting.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Darinas In reply to Holycrap1992 [2014-12-22 00:48:13 +0000 UTC]

Well, they didn't explicitly stated they did, but when Nemesis and Nocturne show up in OV, the former is back to his pre-chirurgy face and is played as a joke villain agan ("The Vengers"), and the latter is once again just a blonde actress who makes a cameo amongst Ben's other love interests (Show's Most Dangerous Game).

Which first scene?

Holycrap1992 In reply to Darinas [2014-12-22 01:30:43 +0000 UTC]

... Honestly, I have no words...

Their first scene in Alien Force. Guess I should've specified better, huh?

I couldn't agree more.... I HATE when they do that. Pretending episodes never happened I mean; That's just lazy.

Oh, this one? Honestly I felt it more like cousin affection that flirting.

Meh, I guess it could work either way.

I hear ya. I was shocked as well. But I have made it my mission today to reassure all my fellow Benlie supporters not to give up hope. I'm sure this whole thing is only temporary. everyone, including Man of Action, knows that relationship problems draw in viewers. Now more people will be watching Omniverse because they'll want to see what happens as far as Ben-Julie are concerned. I myself never watched Omniverse until I heard that Julie was going to be in an episode and wanted to see what had become of their relationship since ultimate alien.
Plus, during the episode Julie defended Ben when her now boyfriend bad-mouthed him. Then Ester ask Julie, "Are you sure he's your Ex-Boyfriend?" Trust me, Benlie is far from dead. I'm sure everyone agrees that Ben needs to grow up a bit before he can be in a committed relationship. Having a partner has done wonders for reducing his ego, now maybe he can man up and get Julie back.
