As he and his mentor climbed up the last few steps to the small clearing, Gentlepaw had to catch his breath for a moment. He and Ashfeather had been traveling for two straight days with few breaks in between, making the exciting journey to the place of stars.. so the full-grown medicine apprentice could learn his full name. It was a long, difficult trip to the Moonpool, Stoneclan being the farthest away, but Gentlepaw didn't care. This is going to be the best night of my entire life.. my medicine cat ceremony. He thought giddily, but tried not to give it away.

As soon as his lungs stopped aching, Gentlepaw looked up and saw all of the medicine cats were already gathered, as expected. He recognized Mapleblossom, Lunarnight, and Hollowgaze, but there were a few faces he couldn't place in his mind. He watched as his grey-furred mentor padded up to the center of the circle, her right side facing the glowing pool and her left facing the semicircle of cats. She then looked at him, an expression of overflowing pride in her bright blue eyes. She looked so happy that it made the tabby tom smile, briefly breaking his emotionless disguise to show some color. She then gave him a subtle nod, signalling that it was time.

Gentlepaw blinked and gave a soft nod back, then slowly started to pad towards her. Everything around him seemed so surreal.. was this really happening? The stone felt cold beneath his paws, the flow of the waterfall roared in his ear, and he walked stiffly until he finally reached Ashfeather. He stopped about a step before her, sitting down and respectfully bowing his head down.

Ashfeather was nervous too, she felt as if had only been a moon ago since she received her full name from Sagestream.. however, she began the ceremony just as her mentor had, and as her mentor had before her.

"I, Ashfeather, medicine cat of Stoneclan, call upon my warrior ancestors to look down on this apprentice." All of the other medicine cats stopped whispering, and they turned their attention to the two cats before them.

"He has trained hard to understand the ways of a medicine cat, and with your help he will serve his clan for many moons to come." She continued, looking down at him, starlight sparkling in her eyes. "Gentlepaw, do you promise to uphold the ways of a medicine cat, to stand apart from rivalry between Clan and Clan and to protect all cats equally, even at the cost of your life?"

Gentlepaw took a deep breath and then exhaled, keeping his eyes closed and his head bowed. "I-.. I do." He whispered back.

"Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your true name as a medicine cat. Gentlepaw, from this moment on, you will be known as Gentlebreeze. Starclan honors your kindness and generosity, and we welcome you as a full medicine cat of Stoneclan." She finished, lifting her head proudly.

Gentlebreeze sighed in relief and held back a happy purr, leaning forward as Ashfeather rubbed her muzzle on his head. He respectfully licked her chest and shoulder, then leaned back and grinned as the other medicine cats began to happily shout his new name. "Gentlebreeze! Gentlebreeze!" His heart swelled with pride and he chuckled softly, looking up the Silverpelt. I just knew it!~ He thought with a purr.

My little baby is all grown up ;w; I can't believe it has already been 6 months since I joined the group. Wow.. time really flies.
