I think it's coming along rather nicely. Keep it up. If you're so worried about ruining it, something I used to do (still do sometimes) is that I trace over parts of a drawing that I want to use again, and I keep the trace handy just in case things don't go the way I wanted. Or if I just have two separate ideas. 
But, it works best with ink drawings like these. Stuff with colors and shading are still possible, just a lot harder.

Oh, thanks for the suggestion. Making 2 versions would be a good idea... or if I don't like how it turns out trace it and start over.
