Description
World map based on Avatar: The Last Airbender show using textures from Google Earth.
For higher resolution you can download the 3000x2129 version. I plan to make a even bigger one.
Feel free to use my map in your projects, some credit would be appreciated, and let me know how it's helpinig you!

Neat! Just one question, though: why is Ba Sing Se represented as desert? Surely a combination of metropolis pictures would have been better? Then again, that would have been hell to copy out.

At the time I considered that if the avatar world is as big as earth, Ba Sing Se should have a population bigger than 10 million to even be represented as a dot in the middle of the desert. And I don't though Ba Sing Se would be this big since the biggest cities in the pre-industrial earth hardly would have a population bigger than 6 million.

That's fair...although from the studies of the world I've seen it's likely the actual size is about that of Mars. Neat nonetheless, and good reasoning!

You forgot Ba Sing Se. Its walls are considered a geological feature on maps, and contains aLOT of farmland.

I preferred do not put Ba Sing Se considering the walls and the city are not scalable in real proportions (i'm considering the avatar world larger as Earth and Ba Sing Se looks like an medieval drawing, imprecise on the original map). The desert doesn't means exactly there were not farmlands or cities, if you use google earth, for example, will see vast farmlands next do sahara and gobi's desert. I just dont know how big is the Lake Laogai to create a 'green area' there. Of curse, this map is open to improvements and i'm using this guide [link] as reference.

Well, remember the real-life Great Wall of China? That can be seen from space, and the walls of Ba Sing Se are at least several times thicker. Heck, you could also use the map from the movie to help you position Lake Laogai. And lets not forget that Ba Sing Se's Wall encloses several mountains too. Heck, they may have been their own mountain range at some point in the past (makes you wonder where they got enough stone for that wall, don't it?). If you want, I could help you, if you agree to help me on a map project I'm working on. I could even help you with a more detailed map of the Fire Nation, one that shows towns, cities, road networks, and even fortifications...

The Great Wall cannot be seen in a satellite map at this distance
We can work together, of course. Unfortunately, at this moment, i'm already creating another realistic map for Fullmetal Alchemist and an Avatar animation (probably until early December). After this i'll create detailed maps for each nation and even a cronological animation of the Fire nation Expansion. If you're interested let me know (and if time is not a problem XD)...
