Idea of trans Redtail would work in human au, but not in original series. If you can convince people you're a tom while you don't wear pants and everyone can see your female parts, that's impressive.

Really cats don't have any concept of human norms so all they'd have to do is say "I want to be called a tom" and everyone else would be "okay cool" and they wouldn't need any convincing. Same with any other lgbtqia+ headcanons in animal books. The caption is meant to be ironic though.
Personally, I don't like the Trans Redtail headcanon because people use it as a means to an end and nothing to do with him as a person which makes me uncomfortable :/. Nobody not even cats need a reason to be who they just are. My Redtail is chimeric because Redtail (and Rosetail's) descriptions point to them being Chimeras instead which would eliminate people slapping a lgbtqia+ headcanon onto him for no reason other than convenience.
Sorry if this sounds rude it doesn't mean to be. It's hard to tell how responses can be interpreted when you don't have the tone to go off of haha!

Maybe we're talking about different sources. According to this headcannon Redtail also used Brindleface to hide the fact he's Sandstorm's mother and Runningwind is the father. So, (like i said) according to this headcannon, they do have some concept of gender and sex. That's why i said about convincing in the first place.

It's a reference to the popular headcanon that Redtail is Trans because he is Sandstorm's father when male torties are infertile. However many people forget that chimeras exist but hey whatever.
Personally I don't headcanon him as trans, he just has chimerism but it's fun to play around with haha!
