Description An old shot that I just found, the double rainbows before Hurricane Ike hit Houston were truly one of the most unique sights I had ever seen. The noise in the picture is distracting, but the actual scene itself was so incredible that I had to share it with you

I was thinking the same thing. I had to look through all the comments to first make sure I was the first and only one to do it too.

I put this photo up before the whole double rainbow phenomenon, so it was safe...until now

Just gorgeous! I heart rainbows.

I always here the Bob Marley song "Sun is Shining" in my head when I see them...

Want you to know, I'm a rainbow too, now

I love rainbows. Do you notice that the reflected bow above the main one has it's colors reversed?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

HA91 In reply to Aeltari [2009-04-06 01:52:46 +0000 UTC]

Wow I didn't notice that And it wasn't a reflection, there were two rainbows, one on top of the other Had to be one of the coolest things I've ever seen

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Aeltari In reply to HA91 [2009-04-06 02:33:42 +0000 UTC]

There is always only one primary rainbow, all the others are considered to be reflections. I have seen three so far. The primary in that case was so bright it looked painted...and me without a camera as so often was the case back in the 80s lol. I never had film for mine...ewww...film.

HA91 In reply to Aeltari [2009-04-06 02:42:33 +0000 UTC]

you sound horrified by the idea of film And that is enlightening information, thanks for telling me There was a third after a while, but it was kind of faint, but let me see if i can pull a picture of it from somewhere

Aeltari In reply to HA91 [2009-04-06 04:28:03 +0000 UTC]

The worst was when my oldest was 6m old and I took him horseback riding. I used up a whole roll of film, so excited about getting it developed. Well when I took it in, I got the film back and they told me it had never advanced in the camera...that day and its memories lost forever. I cried and after that I HATED film and digital technology was still very new and disgustingly expensive. I was full of neurosis when I went to Britain that I developed every roll there just in case my brand new camera at the time failed. Praise digital technology!

I know exactly how you feel! We went on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Himalayas, and it is the only time I recall being happy with my whole family, and we had an old film-camera and I took pictures like a maniac cz i never wanted to forget the experience, and guess what our camera did? Wiped the entire thing out!I was in tears by the end of it And hallelujah for digitalness! I'm not going back to film unless its the only choice left...
