Description
This little guys design did not come from me. He's an adoptable I got from GECK0e in this batch here. fav.me/dcyelaz
Name: “Lucky” Clover
Age: 44 moons
Gender: Buck
Rank: Owsla
Sexuality: Demisexual
Strengths: Good at reading others behavior, excellent fighter, decent forager.
Weaknesses: Can’t blend in with his pelt, useless at strategy, and not a fast rabbit.
Appearance:Mostly white coat with gray spots on his back, his hind legs, and his left front paw. His ears and nose are also gray, and his got some gray freckles under his baby blue eyes.
Personality:
Tolerant - Clover's got a "whatever, you do you" attitude most of the time. As long as someone or their behavior isn't hurting anybody he'll let it slide.
Playful - He has a soft spot for kits, and will usually dial back his more grating behavior around them. He remembers the kithood he had and wants them to enjoy theirs. When he's off duty he'll sometimes go and play with them, teaching them games and even working in some survival skills he thinks they could use if the warren is ever invaded. He also isn't above joking with, and poking fun at, the other members of the Owsla.
Resourceful - While no one is going to go to him for tactical advise he's good at thinking on his feet. If a patrol is attacked by a predator he'll try to lead it away or get it trapped, and if someone in the warren needs extra food on a stormy day he's not above stealing it from rabbits he dislikes.
Sentimental - Despite how detached he can seem Clover has a hard time letting go of the others he's lost. He misses his mom, which is part of why he's so gentle with kits. He misses his human, and he often wonders why he never came back. Lastly, he misses his mentor, and so he keeps the nickname that the older rabbit gave him.
Honest - No one can deny that he's an honest rabbit, although he could be more tactful when he's being so honest. He's blunt and is willing to call others out for being stupid, and if he ever did get attached to someone he'd tell them how much they mean to him. He figures life's to short to mince words.
Tidy - Clover can’t stand a mess for too long. If he doesn’t have anything better to do he’ll start cleaning his nest, grooming himself, or straightening things out around the warren.
Judgmental - Tends to stick with his first impressions of others. If someone comes across as a jerk or a blowhard he'll never let them forget stupid things they do or say.
Abrasive - He can be a total jerk when others first meet him. He'll claim other dens as 'taken' just to mess with people and get them to leave, and if he sees others doing menial jobs he'll hang around and 'supervise'. His honesty also leads him to complain a lot.
Apathetic - He doesn't really get attached to others, figuring they might leave him like almost everyone else in his life, and so it's hard for him to really empathize or care about things. If someone's upset he might try and distract them from the problem, but he's not the kind of buck who will cuddle and let them spill their guts.
Mentor: Sedge (NPC)
Private/Muddypaw: None
Family: Lily (mother) and three unnamed siblings
Mate: None
Kits: None
Backstory:
Kithood - Clover was born to a hutch-rabbit named Lily, one in a litter of four. He was a playful kit, but his mother seemed distant with them. Not to the point she pushed them away, but Clover would see her look at them sadly now and then and she always seemed quiet, like she didn't want to become attached. She didn't even give them names. He realized why when they were taken away from her and put into a different hutch to be sold as pets. Clover did his best to keep his siblings with him, even charging when a few humans picked them up, but eventually he was the only one left. He felt so alone that he only really moved to eat or drink. He had no name, no home except this stinking hutch, and now no family. All that changed when a man bought the little rabbit.
Adolescence - His new owner was the farmer's son, a soldier who could sadly not keep the rabbit on base. Clover got his name because whenever his owner would give him clover to eat he'd get really excited and bounce around his cage. It was a small cage, but he only had to stay in it when his human was out. He was happy there, his human played with him, was always gentle, and he was sure he'd never have to worry about a thing in his life. Then one day his owner left and just never came back. A new human fed him, but this one didn't stay around to play or clean out his small hutch. Finally other humans came in and started cleaning out his human's room. After finding the young rabbit, Clover was put in a large building with other rabbits in hutches.
These rabbits all seemed sad and resigned, like they'd given up on everything. After meeting a wild rabbit named Sedge he found out why. These rabbits were being raised to be killed. Clover began working with Sedge, the two of them planning a breakout. One night Sedge slipped into the building and the two of them managed to break some of the hutches open, making enough noise that the farmer actually came to find out what happened. As soon as he opened the door the two free rabbits bolted, Clover sticking close to Sedge and not looking back. The two of them stopped when they reached some bushes, catching their breath. They looked around, but either the other rabbits didn't get far or they didn't run, because they couldn't see anyone else. Sedge grinned, saying that Clover was lucky since he didn't have the same attitude the other rabbits did. In fact, he decided to actually give Clover the nickname "Lucky". He then asked what "Lucky" Clover was going to do now. Clover didn't know and admitted that he didn't even know how to survive in the wild. Sedge laughed at that and promised to train him, taking him back to the Buttercup warren.
Muddypaw - The older rabbit did his best to train the former pet, starting off in the areas around the warren and gradually moving out to the surrounding area. While he wasn't the most considerate teacher, and was crude at the best of times, he still taught him where to find food, what traps and creatures to be careful of, and, probably the skill Clover's used most, how to fight. Sedge, although he would never admit it, was quite proud of his apprentice, and felt confident that Clover would be able to replace him when he retired from the Owsla. Finally the time came that Sedge retired, having served the warren for most of his life, and passed the mantle to Clover. A few nights later, Sedge passed peacefully in his sleep. The loss of his mentor hurt Clover deeply, but he knows his spirit is at peace and his legacy lives on in the former pet.
The Owsla - After getting to know the others in the Buttercup Owsla, and finding out what some of the Bogweed rabbits have done, he's determined to protect the warren with his life. His behavior can be grating, and he's still uncertain about getting attached to so many rabbits, but his loyalty to the warren is unquestionable. He can't say he fully buys the story of the two brothers, but that doesn't matter to him as much as the rabbit beside him in a fight. Now that he’s seen actual combat, and witnessed the sadistic behavior of Bogweed rabbits firsthand, he’s even more determined to protect the warren. He is currently looking into training a Muddypaw, knowing they’ll need all the fighters they can get.

Roleplay Example:
Hlalvenbrek forced herself not to wince as she saw the Captain strike the prisoner. It didn't seem like a heavy blow. Really a warning more than an actual hit, at least compared to the way some higher ups hit the prisoners. 'I guess she's lucky. Hopefully that doe will keep her head down a bit more... Although, it's kind of impressive she's this cheerful. I hope she can keep that up.'
She glanced at the higher ups and none of them seemed to have noticed her. She thought about leaving, but moving would probably just draw attention to herself. Besides, she wanted to see how the prisoners were doing and to get an idea of their personalities. It was actually kind of fun picking out which ones were going to cause trouble or which ones would at least try to look after the others. 'I suppose if anyone asks what I'm doing I can say I'm observing how to do proper guard duty and studying the prisoners... It really wouldn't be a lie.'
