Description Vax, a simple gunsmith for the Imperium of Man. He was responsible for specialist weapons manufacturing and maintenance. Living in Vraks during the Imperial Siege of the Armory, in which the Renegades and Heretics had taken the power of the Armory into their own hands, life was difficult. With all the supply and demand for weapons from the Imperium, the Imperial Guard would only provide payment if the shipment had reached the target destination. These weapon shipments were very vulnerable to raids from the Renegades of Vraks, making any hope for payment slim. A loving husband to his wife Helena, caring father of his only son Mason, and faithful servant to the God Emperor, Vax had spent his entire life around weapons and armored vehicles, from simple combat blades to the super-heavy class tanks of the Imperial Guard. While constructing and maintaining his weapons he takes his time to test the weapons' accuracy and performance. Years of fire testing have made Vax a very skilled marksman.

Eleven days before his next weapons shipment and Vax was making his last adjustments before packing the last of the shipment. This order was to be sent to a new location with a secure route through an old residential district to a ruined shrine of the Emperor. While Vax began to load his shipment into the crates, "Vax...", Helena whimpered as she stepped into the workshop. "What is it?", he asked as he turned to face her, noticing that tears were streaming from her face. "What's wrong Helena?", she pulled out an envelope, sealed with the insignia from the Imperial Guard. Realizing what this meant, Vax froze with disbelief. His only son, Mason, was being conscripted..Vax had hidden the message from Mason, hoping, praying that in the chaos of the siege, the officers would not come for him. If his son were to join the ranks of the Imperial Guard he knew that it would mean death for Mason.

Five days until the weapons shipment and Vax has heard news of the Renegades movement in nearby districts. A large crash and the sounds of heavy footsteps had awoken him early in that morning. Grabbing an autopistol and rushing downstairs to see that five figures had broken down the front door and were searching the home. "Who are you?!", demanded Vax as he took aim at the nearest figure. Noticing Vax, one of the figures ordered, "Lay down your weapon or you will be subdued and executed for acting against the Imperium!" The figure appeared to be an Imperial officer accompanied by his lieutenant and one Guardsman. "No! Let go of me!", Mason yelled as two more guardsmen emerged from Mason's room, dragging him by his restrains. "I am Colonel Shrok and you are being taken to serve and die for your God Emperor as an Imperial Guardsman.", the colonel proclaimed as the guardsmen carried Mason out of the house. "Please no!", Helena cried as she grabbed the back of the colonel's trench-coat as he was leaving. "Please, I beg of you! Don't take my son!" Vax couldn't move, frozen in fear and despair for his son. "Release me you filth!", Shrok ordered as he pulled out his laspistol and held it to Helena's head. "By acting against the Imperium of Man, you have acted against the almighty God Emperor and therefore have committed an act of heresy and shall now be executed for your crime!", roared the colonel. "No!", cried Vax as Shrok pulled the trigger. The sound of the shot ringed in his mind as Helena's lifeless body fell to the floor. "Remember Vax, I want to see that shipment by the deadline.", mentioned the colonel as he and the last of his men had left the home, leaving behind the the silence and stillness of death. Vax fell to his knees beside Helena, pleading, "Why? Why did the Emperor let this happen?" His only son had been taken, his wife murdered, and forsaken by his Emperor, Vax had nothing left. Losing everything he held dear in what seemed like an instant. Something had grown inside Vax that day as he gave Helena a proper burial. He wanted revenge, to take the life of colonel Shrok, and he would do anything to take vengeance.

Vax had begun working on a dense, yet lightweight armor which would provide necessary protection needed for a battlefield. Using dark fabrics to blend in the the shattered ruins of the city and a long dark cloak to make himself appear as a shadow in the darkness. He had begun to work on a sophisticated rifle, capable of punching through armor and flesh with ease. Upon finishing his new weapon, he carved the name of his fallen lover, "Helena", into the side of the rifle.

The next day, a group of Renegades had broken into his home, seeking the weapons from his workshop. Wearing gas masks and dirt covered yellow uniforms, equipped with makeshift armor covered in strange symbols, and carrying old autoguns, the intruders had invaded Vax's home. With little time to react, Vax was subdued and his wrists were shackled. "Where is the weapon shipment?!", grunted on of the intruders. Vax, weighing his options, muttered, "It's in the workshop just a little ways from here." "Then take us there.", ordered the renegade. "We won't hesitate to shoot you, so no tricks. You hear me?" "I understand, but I do have one favor to ask.", mentioned Vax. "And why should I do you any favors?" asked the renegade in an annoyed tone. "Because you can use me.", muttered Vax. "Let me make the shipment and you can have all the weapons that you could ever want."

It was the day of the shipment and Vax was to meet the pick-up group in front of the shrine. Vax had left the crates for the guardsmen and would return for his payment. An armored transport, called a Chimera, had pulled up to the shrine and dropped it's rear access hatch. Emerging from the transport, about ten guardsmen with loading equipment headed for the shipment. With them was an officer. It was Colonel Shrok's lieutenant. The crew of guardsmen had began inspecting the crates to ensure that it was the right order. Up and out of sight, Vax had taken position on the eleventh floor in one of the many ruined buildings looming over the shrine. He was waiting for them, his rifle fully assembled and loaded. The guardsmen had began to pry open the crates. "You wanted weapons and I said that I'd give them to you.", Vax muttered as he pulled a small remote detonator form his pocket. "Sir, can you take a look at this?", asked one of the guardsmen. The lieutenant strolled over to inspect the crate. "3..2..1..", whispered Vax as he activated the detonator. The crates exploded in a hellish fireball that engulfed the guardsmen surrounding it and knocking the lieutenant to the ground. "What the hell?!", shouted the lieutenant. Noticing a glint of light reflecting off of Vax's rifle. He began to stumble to his feet, heading towards the Chimera. Vax had pulled out a second detonator and immediately pulled the trigger. There were many hidden mines surrounding the shrine that Vax had set, but where inactive until now and the transport was sitting on one. A loud roar from the explosion and the sound of twisting and grinding metal filled the air. The Chimera had been rolled upside down, with much of its treading from its right tracts torn apart. The lieutenant had fallen again to the ground, turning to see where the glint of light had been. He saw Vax, aiming his rifle at him. "This rifle is a symbol of my hatred, a tool of my vengeance, and with it I will end the lives of the ones who took everything from me and anyone who gets in my way!" Vax roared as he began to pull the trigger. Unable to move, the lieutenant felt like he was being held down. With a loud crack, Vax had taken his shot and in an instant he hit his mark. The shot had taken off most of the lieutenants left shoulder, which killed him almost instantly. "One.", Vax said as he picked up his rifle and deactivated the mines. He headed back to his home where he reported to the renegades. He told them what had happened and how he wanted to join them..
