What a great piece! Β I love the way that we are the intruder in the card game. Β The goblins clearly donβt trust us β nor should anyone trust them, given the card tucked into the waistline. Β
And the theifling β she is a true predator. A man could be forgiven for wanting to be the prey.

Yes, it works very well. Β The fact that the characters are sizing up the viewer uncourages us, the viewer, to size up the group in the painting. Β Thatβs when the details start to emerge. Β
It reminds me a bit of Caravaggioβs The Cardsharps.
