It's an interesting topic,I mean look at the Mona lisa,I never notice the background but I know it's there because he beautifully harmonises the whole painting and at a distance,the background is abstract.Juxtaposition is where its at.

Mm, yes I just looked it up again to remind myself of the background! You are very correct, there are some things that just don't change over time in this ever-changing world such as how the eye perceives things, what feels best and what feels slightly off when you can't put your finger on it, etcetera. Despite art being a form of expression there is definitely a skill to arranging things the best way! That plus use of colour and lighting keeps us all learning for quite some time hehe, but one step at a time I think, I will focus on juxtaposition for a bit!
