I think it works on the same principle as a dog whistle. Something about the tone of the noise.

it's obvious, the little blue pokeball attachment has a wind activated thingy in it when you blow through the flute, it activates the thingy and the result is basically what amounts to Zidane headbutting your brain 1,000,000 times in a second
