Well, it depends on how loud and rubbish the player is, same for the Red flute, that song will really ruin the mood!

I have a black flute that repels wild pokemon. I guess this is how that one would be used. Or you just have to be a sucky floutist.

I just always thought that that flute made an AWEFUL sound that made the pokemon wake their butts up... (I LOVED THE YELLOW FLUTE!!!)

*sigh* I'm about to get even more "geek ponts" for explaining yet another Pokemon phenomenon... *sighs again* so here we go...
You see, in the original Pokemon games (red, blue, green and yellow,) the man (Mr. Fuji) who gives you the Pokeflute mentions that it "wakes up Pokemon with a sound only they can hear," but he only says it once, so it IS possible for someone who isn't fond of reading all that dialogue to miss it.
I figure the Blue Flute is just like the Pokeflute, and wakes up Pokemon with that same sound. Sorta like a dog whistle, you know?
Just for the record: I also figure the Red and Yellow flutes work in the same fashion as the Blue, and it makes sense to me, but has anyone questioned why the Black and White ones repel and attract wild Pokes respectively, despite making the same sound when you use them...?

double yew tee eeff? A flute waking someone up? Does the flute make a horn noise? cause last time I checked flutes were calm and peacefull! What were they thinking, use it to wake up sleeping pokemon? Do pokemon have DEATHLY sensitive hearing or something?

What always bothers me about stuff like that is that the "flute" they give you isn't even a flute. It's a %$#&()+ for crying out loud! Flutes have the little blowhole thingy on the side, not the top! I'm not a musician, so i don't know why it bothers me, but it does. Go figure.

Those flutes aren't normal, you see. They activate the dormant electronic aliens from another dimension to get off their ass and get on the computer. In sequence to that, they hax IRL and wake up your pogeyman.
Tis what I've come up for it. It's like how a Pokemon who gets frozen can defrost themself by eating a berry....when they get frozen in a block of solid ice...
