Description
"Hunter WeaponsLog 10.222.8
Science Team is attempting to reverse-engineer Samus Aran's arsenal, based off of data acquired from her assaults on our forces. Progress is slow, but steady. Command would dearly enjoy turning Aran's weapons against her. We believe we can implement Beam weapon prototypes in three cycles. Aran's Power Suit technology remains a mystery, especially the curious Morph Ball function. All attempts at duplicating it have ended in disaster: four test subjects were horribly broken and twisted when they engaged our Morph Ball prototypes. Science Team wisely decided to move on afterward."
--From the Space Pirate datalogs of Metroid Prime.
Okay before I mesmerize you with tales of heroism and fantasy, I need to announce that I love Space Pirates. I'm going to run away from home and become a Space Pirate. Some day.
So I've been playing alot of Metroid lately (and right when they announce that they're probably holding Corruption back past June, greeaaat), and I remembered something that kinda bothered me about the first Metroid Prime. There are doors on the Space Pirate frigate Orpheon only accessible with some of Samus's unique weaponry, which the Pirates only develop later in the game (conveniently, right after you acquire it yourself)...but what I want to know is why they built doors they knew they couldn't open. Then again, the frigate was probably designed by the same Science Team that decided it was a good idea to engineer Pirate armor that leaves a gaping hole in front of what looks like a very large and vulnerable vital organ. Um, seriously. But maybe, if you punch a Space Pirate square in the heart, he becomes all huge and strong for like thirty seconds.

you know I always wondered that about videogames. Why would they put doors in dungeons that the gaurdians can't open?

OMG, that is absolutely classic XD Why have doors only the heroine can open?

i always interpreted it as that Samus's beams could short out various different locking systems, which the pirates would open by the amazing expedient of actually having the keycodes, instead of shorting out the security barrier and triggering the same sort of "open when power lost" circuitry that's in current-day automatic doors to keep people form being trapped in malls and the like.
maybe i just overthink things. fun comic nevertheless, i really like your verion of the wave pirate (the purple one is the wave pirate, right?)

yeah, that and they cant even go through their own doors! it was really fun when i was in phendrana going from the lab w/ the thermal visor back out into the room with shadow pirates and a turret, and i opened the door, but the pirates couldn't come in. i was shooting them all slow, and they were taking the damage, attacking the door, but still unable to get through!

*gasp* space pirates vs. space ninjas!
if i were a space pirate, i would probably just trick samus into an airlock and jettison her into space. (not that i dislike samus. it just seems like a good way to be rid of bounty hunters)

Why do they do that... I mean, its like buying a lock, and then install it, but gives away the key to the person you hate the most... stupid Space Pirates.

Haha, that's completely true. xD
I wonder why? .. But; You know those Space Pirates from Metroid Prime that are injured by their own weaponry. xP Wave Beam, Plasma Beam, Charge Beam, Ice Beam, Yadda yadda. They could probably open those door hatch. xD -- But then.. ya know. Those are the only ones that CAN do that. o__O;
That's just plain stupid. xD Poor weird aliens~ But hey, they're the ones that make the game all the more interestingly-annoying. .. With their retarded theme that makes you jump when they SHOOT at you out of NO where.. e__e;; skdjsads. xP

Those space pirates are stupider than they think. Why don't they just blow up Samus' ship when she's not there and strand her on the planet?

that's the same I kept thinking about!! they've got more armor protecting their shoulders than protecting their heart?! also, you can see their stomach and other important organs... it's the same with meta-ridley in metroid fusion, he's got an impenetrable armor all over his body... except his big, red glowing heart, which remains completely exposed...
