Description
I decided not to color it in the end. :I Too much woooork~!Now Hakku shall run(, run, run MAMBO idk) for the rest of his life.
I liked the sketch out of these the most. It looked like a running rottweiler (before I added the ears and the tail) ;w; <3 And after I added the lineart, it looked better with the sketch on the bg. Trust me, it did.
Β© me
also, I hate it when the interwebz makes it slower than it really is.
edit:// I forgot to say that I wasn't really paying much attention to the lineart! Meaning that it's not the thing I spent to most time with, so it's not the most important thing in this either. I was just trying out the movement, once again. In fact, I think I've never drawn the lineart this fast before.

very good!! you draw his body so well as he runs; it looks like a real wolf or dog is actually running

I love how smooth the animation is and how anatomical correct it is.

This has good rhythm and fine anatomy, and it looks like you put a lot of work into it, so I applaud you. However I'm not getting a good sense of weight in the animals' movement. He seems like he's floating and never really landing. I know there's a line there to represent the ground, but I don't get the impression that his weight is interacting with his movement. He needs to drop down more when he lands.
And it might just be me, but I think his front legs get longer for a few frames.

Hakaishi In reply to Rynnay [2009-11-26 10:43:14 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I've got a few words for that. I kind of tried to make his run a bit lazy-like (that's why his front seems to drop more), since he is more masculine than athletic... Dunno if I managed at all, though. And the line was there more like for myself so I know where to land his feet.
And about the front legs; they probably are longer at some points. I spent more time with the sketch than the lineart, so I didn't really pay much attention to the rest of it. XD
But thanks for the feedback anyway, I really appreciate it~!

Rynnay In reply to Hakaishi [2009-11-26 16:31:48 +0000 UTC]
Ah, I think in that case he'd especially flop or "drop" down lower when he lands if he's got a lazy stride, almost like a reluctance to move his body so fast (if that's what you meant by lazy). Run cycles are tough, especially for four-legged animals. Keep doing them over and over again, they'll get better. You're already doing a great job! Good luck!

It is totally hard! D: How long did this running cycle took?

Hakaishi In reply to Shendificator [2009-10-15 15:27:50 +0000 UTC]
The cycle itself took me about +2 hours, I'd say, because I wanted to make the ears and tail move in synch with the body. XD

wow this is really amazing and really i envy you for the patience in making this i really want to try doing some stuff like this!
there's something I noticed and im not putting you down or anything i just didnt know if you were aware that its an awkward gait..or thats what my mom calls it anyway but its where the back of the animal is pushing off one direction and the front is going the other rather than being in tune with the front and back feet; dont get me wrong i love this is just didnt know if you noticed that. (what im saying is if the front legs were to corrospond to the back legs he would be pushing off with his front left leg; however if the back were to corrospond with the front he'd land with his left hind foot first to make the gait smooth)
once again, im not critiquing or anything i just didnt know if you realized that or if you hadn't u could use it as future reference!! it took me like five minutes to figure out if it was right or not; all in all nobody could notice; it truly looks amazing!

Yeah, I know what you mean. XD it's because that's the first leg I drew, so it automatically became the one with most movement and "power". =__= But thanks anyway <3 XD
