No water is too deep to conquer,
No bones too brittle to fight...
Mend. Struggle. Resurface. Repeat.

Feels like forever since I've created something from the heart. Although I prefer viewers to connect with the piece with their own concept, I'll share what I had in mind while creating this one.

The water represents pain, depression, fear and heartache, anything and everything that hurts. For those who have struggled, perhaps you agree that it feels like drowning? Above sea level is peace, happiness and freedom. The shackles had kept her under, a seemingly impossible bond to break.

Lastly, one might ask why the water is so shallow? Think of it this way: being chained to the bottom, knowing the surface is so near yet unreachable! People tell you to stand up, easier said than done. Maybe you have to have drowned to understand the agony and hopeless feeling that consumes every part of you and leaves you breathless.

The girl in this piece has broken the resistance, she has "stood up", conquered and resurfaced. She is free. All that she was below the surface is fading away, it is nothing more than a memory.

For anyone who is drowning, remember the surface is near Stand up
