I can definitely relate to this. I'm still dealing with it too. :\
The dumb thing though is that I always feel guilty when I comment on something like this, like I'm just saying "feel sorry for me." I do wish that someone cared, but that's not my intention. I'm here to say that you succeeded in making a piece of art that conveys a feeling that I can relate to, so thanks for that.

Yes, I understand. It's alright to ask for comfort, I want you to know. Don't be scared or ashamed to ask for help, or share your story. Just bottling it up won't do any good. If someone you're asking makes fun of you, then he/she is an ass. Just find another friend.

As sad and emo-ish as this sounds, this could just as easily have been me you drew...not physical abuse, but emotional abuse can sting just as bad as a slap to the face, or a punch to the gut...>->

yes, the picture is about mental abuse.. many children always taken too lightly by their parents. (well, me too actually)

I got told to "go to hell" and called an sob when I was 4. Add to that being made to feel like I was always wrong, they (well, mostly my mom) were always right. I could never get emotional about my being hurt. I died inside while I hid my pain with a pretty smile.
Thank God my fiance' has helped me deal with the pain I grew up with...
