Incredibly minimalistic and geometric representation of Midna from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

About the Piece:

After uploading a 4th piece in my Geometry series for Link from The Legend of Zelda back in September 2013, I received a comment from SmartcookieX asking if I could perhaps do a piece for Midna from Twilight Princess. When she suggested it, I was very intrigued at the prospect but didn't really have any ideas for how to properly go about creating the piece. The suggestion has stayed in my mind, though, and I wanted to challenge myself to see if I could come up with something to fit into the series. For the other completed characters in the Geometry series, I used very basic shapes like diamonds and triangles: shapes that are already present on their outfits or strongly associated with them, IE: the Triforce. Midna, however, was another story altogether. The art of Twilight Princess is beautiful but complex, gorgeous but haunting. Midna, Zant, and the other Twili are more of an obscure, enigmatic tribe and because of that I ultimately decided that simplifying someone from such a group like Midna down to just one basic shape was going to be impossible. So, I studied her outfit and pulled from the designs you see across her legs/arms. They are still very geometric overall, as a lot of the art/motifs in the Twili realm are. I retained the water color textures that are used in the other Geometry pieces, but this final piece has a very different look/feel than its predecessors - which I'm OK with. I had fun making this piece and taking some liberties with it. Even though it is still entirely geometric, it's not an identical match to the other 4 pieces I made before. I actually really enjoy how this came out. I hope those of you who enjoy my existing Geometry pieces - and Midna/TP fans - enjoy it, as well! Thank you again to SmartcookieX for the initial suggestion!

OMG.... this is beyond amazing!!

Your Midna piece surpasses by far anything I was imagining!

I love it how you've simplified Midna's design - without losing the detail and complexity!!

The design is striking and those colours really reflect her character!! I can't favourite it enough!!!!!!!!!!!!

You're very welcome, and thanks again for creating this lovely artwork...   upon my suggestion~

Wow! That's trippy but awesome! Did it kind of disorient you when you were making this? 👍: 0 ⏩: 1

You know, it actually really did disorient me. Looking at it for so long, especially with so much contrast with the black + color...I had to get up a couple times and walk around, get my bearings a little bit to re-focus my eyes! I think it was worth the disorientation, though haha

I would definitely have to do that if I created this piece!

Let's just say I definitely agree that the results were worth it!

If you stare at it long enough it starts to move, yeah...

I am very glad you agree the disorientation works for the piece though! Thank you again!

Good! haha I agree, though. I think "hypnotic" is a good word to associate with a lot of the things from TP and the Twili, so I am definitely glad that came through in this simplistic piece Thank you for the comment!

haha It would make a cool wall pattern of sorts, yeah. It reminds me of a modified Greek Key pattern, so I can see why you'd say that Thank you for the comment!
