Description
I figure this is as good a time as any to post this photo, what with Valentine's Day just around the corner...even if it is a common idea...This was a multi-layer-meaning photo that I had to do for my Photography independent study. I see many different ways to interpret what the image is trying to convey. Any ideas on your end would be totally cool.
on mine, however, i saw it as:
a) seeing is believing
b) read before you indulge
c) love is not blind
d) reading enhances belief
e) the love of reading christian literature
f) defining your love
et cetera.
again, any input or other interpretations are welcome!
Good Ol' Fashioned B&W Negatives to print paper. Still learning about darkrooms, but enjoying it!
You may NOT use this deviation or artwork in any way without my permission. Respect this artwork and the time and effort that went into it. Thanks.

Ok, I kept coming back to this one so I was like "Dammit FAV" haha. I have no idea what it is about the picture that intrigues me so much... definitely would most likely be the distortion of the shadow from the lense that lures me in everytime... Either way it's just an eyecatching photo =]

Hmmm... This might be the most shot concept of all time. I have seen this very idea shot at least 50 different times.
The saving grace for this one though is that you did it old school with film. Very easy to shoot these things with digital. Just click a few hundred shots off and away you go. Try doing that with Film. No instant feedback. You have to go with skill instead of bracketing. Hard damn thing to do.
I don't like the title but I do like the image. I like the harshness of the print. I like how the harshness is a contradiction to the cross in the heart. That really works well for me.
Yeah, the highlights are hot and imo the DOF could be deeper but that doesn't matter much. This is a wonderful image.

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. ^_^ When I did it, I had seen maybe two versions of the image, and decided to give my spin on it. Thanks again for the critique!

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. Took some thought to come up with it.
If you do happen to think of one, go ahead and comment it! More are always good to have. I like seeing how other people read into my work.

I don't know why people are telling you this is unoriginal, this is the first time I have seen anything like this. Looking at the link to a similar picture someone posted above in the comments... yours is so much better. Much better lighting and framing.
Good job

Thank you so much for your comment!
I believe that all artworks is original, as long as you know that you are not copying someone else just for the sake of copying them. If an idea is reused, but altered, it's still original. Thank you for your words! I appreciate them! And I'm very glad that you like the picture.

quite awhile. setting it up took the shortest amount of time. probably 10 minutes at the most, and then focusing and apature, blah blah... darkroom was a pain. i probably did 8 different prints, all with different filters and times. the totally final version is still at the school in my folder, but this looks very similar to it.
thank you for the comment!

it was a lot softer, by my teacher wanted more contrast, more contrast! and you're right, it does give off the feel of an old picture. ^_^ thanks for the comment!

are you accusing me of plagiarism? I took this photo in october, and the book with glasses or a ring is a common concept.

No i'm not accusing anything, just, i've seen this is exact framing and concept about 5 times all over DA so far, nice as it is, I'm losing my faith in the originality =]
Apologies, not your fault.

I'm using the bible for purposes towards the concept of the assignment. we had to create pictures using cliche items that could form several different meanings. While there are many similar frames, i did actually come up with the bible and crucifix myself. i hadn't explored dA before hand.
Thanks for your comments, however! sorry if i jumped the gun. ^_^;;
