Here's my take on Optimus Prime...The real, original Optimus Prime from the 80's.I tried to draw him in a style that was reflective of the cars in the Harry Canyon story from Heavy Metal the movie...
I snuck Starscream in the background blowing stuff up as well.
I am also the creator of GATES: Heavy Metal Magazine's FIRST Online comic. Gates is written and illustrated by me (Hal Hefner).
The site launched on 10.31.10 and the comic will officially begin publishing weekly on 1.1.11

You don't like the redesigns of OP in the new movies and new animated shows?
Oooh HM magazine fan, i have some of those classic issues.I grew up with HM the movie since i was 12 18 years ago when i saw it on TBS thank to my TV guide and also watched Vampire Hunter D, Robot Carnival, American Pop and Rock and Rule, loved them.
Did you know James Cameron, Ridley Scott, Luc Besson and others are fans of the HM movie and magazine? they were influenced by both sources for stuff like Blade Runner, Avatar to even Fifth Element.

yeah redesigns are okay. My favorite is Optimus Primal form Beast Wars...But as far as designs go, this one will always be my love becuase it is my childhood. I'm 36. This is MY optimus!
