Description
Just after midday, Emerald found herself in a quiet moment of solitude after hours surrounded by friends and others. She rarely found herself completely alone anymore--she was well-loved and secretly adored the attention. But now, on her own, curiosities set in that the distraction of friends usually drove to the back of her mind.
Stepping out from the tall golden grass, she splashed into the stream, and stared down at her own reflection.
"Am I beautiful?" she asked the image in the water. But her reflection did nothing but stare back, imitating her every move. Downcast by this moment of aloneness, she sighed, wondering if her exotic color separated her from everyone else, wondering if her difference made her less beautiful than her brown, black, grey, and golden peers. That question rang in her back-facing ears.

Suddenly, something fluttered in the corner of her vision. She raised her gaze to the sky just as the butterfly took landing on her nose, gently shifting its fragile jade-hued wings.
"Oh!" Emerald gasped, taking in the unusual sight. "What a strange color for a butterfly! Yet, so beautiful! You must be the most beautiful butterfly I've ever seen!"

And as the tiny winged creature again took off into the surrounding fields, Emerald realized she had found the answer to her question.

Emerald is an adorable little mare owned by ~ANIMALGIRL1869 .
I didn't originally intend to write a whole little scene to accompany my drawing, but as I contemplated this gorgeous girl, I realized that even the most beautiful souls, if they are so different, must at least sometimes grow self-conscious of their uniqueness.
I hope I at least somewhat captured her character, and I'm sorry if I didn't.
