Bad title is badSooo... I actually don't like it very much.
I would change many many things on this, but only on the background. I'm happy with how Shan and Sauru turned out, but I still suck at doing anything nature-related. I've read a few tutorials and looked through a shitload of conifer references but the idea did not stuck in my mind and this is how the bushes turned to be. ._.
But, this was sitting for so long in my computer to the point I gave a look at it and knew that if I didn't finish it today, I never would. D:
Oh, and by the way, I used a Brother Bear screenshot as inspiration for the BG! The suggestion came from my personal pygmy pig
I hope at least I got Sauru right! xD

This scene is from a current RP between and I where they go out to a hunting lesson. Sauru is passing the tactical details to her before they start chasing the poor elk.
They have a lot in common talking about hunting

Foliage I think you have down path, they look believable. However the tree trunks are what's throwing me off. You have them looking so smooth that it looks off compared to the textured leaves. I might try messing with a chalk brush or some sort of textured bush and add in some darker lines to bring it up to speed with the foliage. Other than that looks great

that's a very constructive suggestion... something was bugging me from the start but I could not see what exactly it was!
once I'm home imma try add some decent texture do the trunks and see if it will stop bugging me XD

I started using disney screenshots to have ideas of how i'll make the composition, it helps so much
like, I think that Havir has the kind of enviroment shown on Brother Bear, so I use them as base /o/

IT'S NOT UGLY YOU STOP IT it's so much better then my background style Dx I only know how to abuse the shit out of the smudge tool. I have no idea how to make things look individual and with depth

When I want to create a sense of depth I think about the background with 'layers', on this one I considered as if it had 3
so there's the first one, where Sauru, Shan and the closer trees are
the second with a snow hill and the elk
and the third thats the far set of trees
on the third I merge everything in the same layer and use a gaussian blur tool on photoshop with like, 5 pixels of range
on the second I also merge but use 2 or 3 pixels of blur, only to smudge it a little
and the first one I dont blur, since it's the focus of the image

Well yes I know how to layer my props and stuff, but what I mean is how each grass blade and leaf looks distinct. Like take this for example it's obvious I just smudged colors together. Your bushes and trees actually look like bushes and trees lol with very fine details. I don't know how to do that
