so in recent news, sanrio said to a reporter that hello kitty is not a cat, she is a little girl.now for me, i ALWAYS saw her as a cat, that is what she looked like and to me that is what she represented, so hearing that was a bit of a mindfuck to a point and i tried to picture how that would work, i mean, she has ears and whiskers and also a tail.... so... she is a cat-girl then?
but no she is a british little girl who lived outside london, so after a bit of thinking, this was the only way i could picture her being a little girl and it being "believable" haha
il admit i mainly did this for fun and didnt spend a great amount of time on it, but i think hello kitty is cute and i tried my best to make her little girl form just as cute!

The problem is, and always will be, that people don't want to associate anthro (aka furry) with humans OR animals. So, if an animal is replacing a human such as in Hello Kitty or Arthur cartoons, then the producers, creators, and anyone involved go "These are people, not animals", and thus confusion arises!
If memory serves, there's a PVP strip where they argue this point about characters like Donald Duck and the like....

haha well tbh, and anthro is still an animal, its just a more human-ish one in terms of that it stands and has the stature of a person, but its an animal (kinda), anthros are cute imo, and i think anthro as a word still isnt super well known.
i find it funny when disney said Goofy is a dog, and you look so hard at him and see the resemblance, but, he still isnt quite dog looking XD
