All I can say is I tried! I hope this helps someone. Just unzip and click on the html document! Here is the most recent version of Mandelbulb 3D www.fractalforums.com/index.ph…Update: The parameters used in this tutorial are no longer included in newer versions of MD3D, so the parameters are below, and here is how you paste them into the program. Just copy the text below to your clipboard, select the open tab at the top left of the main MB3D window, then click on the icon that looks like a folder with txt under it. That will paste the parameters you copy into the program. Then click the calculate 3d button to see the image:

This tutorial helped me a lot to understand quite how to start working with Mandelbulb. I only had one question though. Is there a way to get faster previews? Call me impatient but I don't like waiting a minute *every* time I make a change and want to see the impact o.O

As far as I know, there seem to be three or four things that control the render speed. At the top of the main window is the image resolution. Lower resolution will render faster. Example: 800x500 will render in around 75% less time than 1600x1000 will. In the group of buttons on the right side of the main window is one called Calculation. Click it and you will see a field called DE accuracy. Set it around 3. Going from say 8 to 3 will reduce the preview render time by about 75%. The next thing I know that effects preview render speed is zoom. Keep zoom as low as possible, say 2 to 5. Use the FOVy to zoom as much as possible. Default FOVy is around 30 I think. You can set it as low as 1. If you still aren't zoomed enough after the FOVy is lowered, then zoom in more by adjusting the actual zoom field. More zoom = longer render, nothing you can do about that. And finally, again on the right side of the main window are the Maximum-Minimum iterations settings. A setting for maximum iterations between 16 to 19 will speed things up a bit at the cost of loosing detail on your image.

...answered my own question by clicking the "preview" button on accident. I swear I didn't see it AT ALL o.O

Good! I was afraid I would confuse rather than help!
