In my opinion, the real reason people using MMD is making a splendid image due to various types of effects for the artist to use. Unlike SFM, this software excellent for animating because it's easy to move the model by rigging Biped bone to the model. I found it like this when the first time I try using the SFM, unfortunately MMD is still has some major bug like crashing.

I agree with you
Sfm is a really good software, so easy to use and mmd yeah it's good too, but like you said, it crashes and this is annoying sometimes.
But I'm still using cuz I'm more accustomed to mmd, and still a good software 'v'
