Description
My second attempt at panoramic photography. This is at shelly beach in cronulla australia, its about 100 metres from my house so I want to create a panoramic photo of the area to put up on my wall, just looking for the right angle/composition.Please let me hear your thoughts so i can improve it!

Thanks mate! I've got a Nikon d90 and this was just done with the 18-105 kit lens at 18mm and 4 or 5 photos stitched together. I'm going to try it with my 50mm 1.4 and put it vertically.

in photoshop there is an option to photomerge, and its analyses the photos and tries to merge them, u need to do a bit of tweaking but its pretty good!

well sunrises work best with scatter cloud cover because the colours are reflected off the clouds, if you have a clear sky there is nothing to reflec the colours off. You can increase the colours a little through photoshop/lightroom but you have to be careful not to over do it because it just becomes to fake. Im really really glad you like it, have you been to cronulla before?

Not really you've done quite well, the only thing I'd be able to help you with would be, sometimes, and it looks like its happened here, photoshop can't align the straight horizon where the water meets the sky, all you have to do is marque the section that has chopped and jumped and create a new layer with the selection and lower or heighten the new layer to line it all up, then use a soft edged eraser to blend it with the surroundings, when your done just flatten the 2 layers together, any additional 'weird bits' around where you mended the shot, you can use the spot healing brush, either proximity match or content are will help you, or you can sample a section of the shot with the stamp and draw over the 'weird bit'. Apart from that, the rest comes with practice, good work mate

sweet as thanks for the advice, to be honest i hadnt noticed it in the picture until u said and i zoomed in and scanned the horizion, will def look at it more closely on my next panorama pic! thanks again for the tips!

All good mate! I miss it sometimes too, then when I submit it to groups that are really pedantic about what they accept tell me what's wrong with photos, so then I fix it up, honestly its easy to miss the little things.

I love both of them! The colours of "My Sanctuary" are more strong giving a "fantasy" effect which makes the picture even more amazing. It was a tough decision but I prefer this one because it gives a feeling of relaxation and optimism due to its calm and warm colours. I find "My Sancturay" a bit more cold and a little bit more depressing.

Hmmm interesting critique, im glad you like both of them and thanks for your honesty about which one you prefer, im still undecided which one i like! Im going to try a few more and different angles before i decide which one i want to get made into a print

No its 5 images stitched together, i tried it HDR but didnt look that good
