From what I understand, Chris Pine seemed to have made a better Edward Cullen while America Ferrera made a better Bella Swan because they more closely match the characters in the Twilight novel.
In fact from what I was told, the only thing they got right were the names.

Chris Pine is certainly a better actor, so it would have been interesting to see how he played it. I would have actually gone to see the Twilight movies, had he been the lead in it.
