it doesn't really have anything to do with being a princess. It's more of self-defense and temporary protection, and she would need to learn it regardless of her gender. Sam doesn't know how to defend herself not because she's a girl, but because she just doesn't know how to defend herself xD it's like not knowing how to do calculus, you don't know it unless you're taught it
