One thing I like about this picture is that her expression could convey so many different emotions: sadness, pity, regret, concern... I guess it's up to the viewer to decide.
But yeah, I get what you mean about the "hope" thing. It's in there deep, but it's there.

Yeah, you are right, there are a lot of emotions trapped within. Anyone can make a different interpretation.
