2:30 opening sequence! That means the closing must be 10 minutes long, leaving about 2 seconds of actual story time. I suspect someone spent money on whores, or indecisive bickering.
There isn't enough time in the day to waste on bad animation; I need to waste it staring at walls in silence. And ink a couple panels a day.

Doug and Arnold are nothing alike, except that they are both slice of life stories about boys with whimp issues in their life. Aside from that, the writing is way better on Arnold, and they actually try sometimes.
Zim was really just trying to emulate Doug. Where did we go wrong, though? I thought we succeeded until people were talking about all these ridiculous angles and compositions, and the show was too complex, so they couldn't pay attention to anything going on.
Doug still rules so bad. Timeless steaming pile of classic.

I remember arnold having really good continuity compared to other shows around, and really was more likely to ENTERTAIN ME as in make me laugh or one time cry. Doug I don't remember with much joy....I remember wanting his dog to die and a lot of the characters being so flat and boring that i wanted to reach in there and stab them.
I imagine if I saw them now i'd probably find something to be impressed by, but as one who was at that time a CONSUMER I was so bombarded by those two shows particularly that even the thought of them throws me into a spiral of boredom.
