We stop extraterrestrials with the worst humanity has to offer. The reception is bound to be bittersweet.

For a minute I was like "Nostalgia Critic, nostalgia critic, who's that again?" Then I remembered I saw a couple of his videos and loved them, and mentally went "YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!"

He didn't. This quote is from his review of signs. Though I would love to see him review that.

Did IZ air for the Critic's cut off date?

Well, it aired in 2001. So, he might review it considering the fact that he reviewed some movies that came out recently since his big come back.

Well the coincidence is actually not that far of a stretch, both signs and the Invader Zim episode "the wettening" both took inspiration from "war of the worlds". I had hoped though that this episode had came out after signs so it could be labeled as a parody.

Also, he was sent to Earth blindly by The Tallest, not even knowing a thing about it. And the Tallest weren't really expecting him to even get close to conquering it, they mostly sent him there to be rid of him, merely just acting like it was an important mission. Conquering Earth wasn't even on their priority list for them.

XDDDD Oh God, that's so perfectly fitting... X3 And I'm not going to bother explaining the actual thing with Zim and the water-laden planet he's invading, most people have already did that... but good GOD, the Nostalgia Critic NEEDS to see Invader Zim!! ^3^ He would love it for sure!

well to be fair he didn't know water hurt him when he invaded the planet, and maybe he stayed, because Zim wants to make his Tallest proud of him, and conquering a plant full of weakness would make the Tallests very proud of him and label him the greatest invader ever, also Irkens could use the humans as slaves like they do on other planets
...or he's stupid

Um, he didnt invade the planet. The tallest didnt even know there was a planet where they sent him. They just wanted him to die in the vaccuum of space.

its because in the episode it was the first time zim had ever been near water, so he only learned this when it first hurt him

kayanne21 [2012-07-08 11:27:45 +0000 UTC]
Well first off, Zims and idiot. XD
Second...why would he know of this weakness? If his own planet doesn't have water, how would he know he's allergic to it? XD
But yeah, I thought about Zim at that part too.

The-12th-Doctor86 [2012-07-08 04:38:22 +0000 UTC]
Actually for the Irkens it was the pollution content that is in Earth's water that was hurting Zim, not the water itself.

ToaAntan [2012-07-08 04:32:22 +0000 UTC]
the idea is to prove how dumb he really is, to not realize the Irkens would want nothing to do with a planet covered in an element completely lethal to them

Technically they sent Zim on Earth because they wanted to get rid of him...Am i wrong? Whatever, the reference is still funny.

ToaAntan In reply to DankoDeadZone [2012-07-08 09:45:13 +0000 UTC]
no but the point being that he assumes his "mission" is official he doesnt put the pieces together that its a planet useless to the Irkens.

1.) He doesn't have to know about his weakness if he never encountered water before.
2.) Zim is too egomaniacal to admit that he has weaknesses.
3.) The Tallests (supposedly) told him to go to Earth. Zim ain't gonna question it.
Put another way: the Critic is right, that aliens from Signs were complete idiots for not taking the water into account. But Zim is supposed to be an idiot, isn't he?
Also, I think Jhonen has said something about water not hurting Zim, just the pollution in the water. But the show never demonstrates that and fans pretty much never take that into account.

Yeah, I heard that about Signs! Same complaint, why invade a planet made out of what can kill you, which also FALLS FROM THE SKY every so often. Imagine not knowing it was going to rain, and now you're dead or hospitalized!
